On Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I was a little puzzled how May in the episode “One of Us” told Andrew they would not send Skye away, then in “Love in a Time of Hydra” she told Coulson she agreed with her ex. My question is: Do we see more development in her relationship with Skye that she considers Skye family? –Stephanie
Any concerns you might have about May’s faith in Skye should be alleviated this Tuesday, when amidst utter chaos, May makes it a priority to do whatever she can to (hopefully) save Skye from certain doom. All in all, the next episode is quite excellent, offering a fascinating series of flashbacks to when S.H.I.E.L.D. fell circa Captain America 2, thus allowing us to really see Lucy Lawless’ Isabelle Hartley (and her knife) in action. Meanwhile, in the present timeline, you’ll get the knock-down, drag-out agent-on-agent fight you perhaps never knew you wanted.

Unfortunately, not all of the real S.H.I.E.L.D.’s leaders agree on how to handle the hostile takeover, which will lead to a number of injuries. Injuries, though, not fatalities. Don’t worry!

Sorry, but plan to be Hartley-broken – that was Lawless’ one and only appearance. As for returning to Pawnee, she discussed that in our Q&A.

In fact, you will see Nick Offerman smiling more in those five minutes than you probably have over five seasons.

Yes, and… as far as the casual viewer will know. Show boss Mike Schur says that Lawless will appear in the season opener as well as another of the first eight episodes. And then…? “The normal thing is to grab a person for a six-episode arc, and we want to do that with her, but we’re going to spread them out over the season,” he explains. “She’s going to be the mother of Baby Swanson, so we didn’t want to grab her for four episodes and then never see her again.” So by sprinkling Diane in here and there, “We’ll really get the sense that she’s a permanent fixture in Ron’s life — which she is!”

You’ll actually find out right away because the premiere picks up right where the show left off in the finale. Mike Schur previews: “He’s not at all freaked out. He’s nothing but excited or happy.” Meanwhile, as we’ve reported, Lucy Lawless will return in the season premiere but how often she pops up after that remains in the air. “She literally has to fly 19 hours to do one hour of our show so we have to be a little strategic about it,” Schur shares. “But obviously she’s going to be the mother of Ron’s child so we want her to be a real presence in the show.”

How is Parks going to deal with Chris Pratt filming Guardians? How often are we going to see him. We can’t lose Andy AND Chris and Ann!!! — Lisa
He is in the premiere, but after that, the show will indeed have to deal with Andy’s absence. And what takes him away, you ask? “He kind of gets an offer he can’t refuse,” Schur teases. “He’s back for good in episode 9 or 10, I’m not sure. And in the middle we’re going to grab him for one episode and maybe more. So hopefully it won’t just feel like he’s gone. We’re parsing out his appearances over the first nine or ten episodes.” And since Chris and Ann don’t leave until episode 13, you shouldn’t be dealing with too much change at once, Lisa. Also, breathe.

The NBC comedy just shot another episode with Lawless as Diane last week, and there could be more. A lot more. As show boss Mike Schur explains, “The idea was that through the first four seasons we’ve seen Ron in one or two OK relationships and several entirely disastrous, miserable ones. So… this was a big thing we wanted to check off, to give him a lady friend who was significant and important in his life. We certainly have a lot of plans for [Lucy] through the rest of the season — and hopefully beyond.”

Showrunner Mike Schur says guest star Lucy Lawless’ character Diane (debuting this Thursday) will be “tall and striking and beautiful and commanding and very funny and charming and smart and capable… everything Ron would look for in a woman.” But her life as a single mom to two young and unruly girls, which Schur calls “a little messier than [Ron's] accustomed to,” makes him go back and forth on whether he’d like to pursue a relationship with her. If I may, Ron, a little advice: It’s Lucy freaking Lawless – take the win!

Parks and Recreation: Lucy Lawless Books Multi-Episode Arc-TVLine

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Lucy Lawless has been cast in a recurring guest-star role as a love interest for Ron in season 5 of Parks and Recreation. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Lawless' role:



Lawless, who is coming off of a three-year run on Spartacus, will play a single mom in Pawnee named Diane who has a small problem in her neighborhood. Ron and Andy are dispatched to help her, and Andy notices there might be some chemistry between her and Ron.

My thoughts: I've been a huge fan of Lucy Lawless for several years, so I'm really excited to see her on Parks and Recreation. One of the reasons why I'm so excited to see her on Parks and Recreation is because I love seeing actors that I like in all kinds of roles, which I discussed in the casting news about H. Jon Benjamin guest-starring on Suburgatory (Suburgatory: H. Jon Benjamin Cast as Dallas' Life Coach in Season 2-TVLine). Plus, this whole scenario about her playing a love interest for Ron sounds instantly hilarious. I just hope the writers name her character Tammy to continue the trend of Ron liking women whose name is Tammy.
