Beyond the Gates: First Look at Opening Credits (CBS Daytime Soap Opera)

Here's a first look at the Opening Credits for CBS' upcoming new daytime soap opera, Beyond the Gates, which premieres on Monday February 24, 2025. As someone who has been a HUGE fan of soap operas ever since I was a kid, I've really been looking forward to Beyond the Gates' premiere ever since the show was originally announced. As for my thoughts on the theme song and opening credits, I like the theme song, and it's definitely growing on me the more times that I hear it; but I definitely don't love it.

It's pretty hard for me to say what soap opera has my favorite opening credits or theme song. I've always loved the theme song for now canceled the NBC/DirecTV soap opera, Passions. I'm also a big fan of the theme song / opening for the now canceled ABC soap opera, All My Children. WhilIe it's not necessarily a "theme song", I've always loved the Days of Our Lives theme song and opening credits. Days of Our Lives is also the first soap opera that I ever watched when I was a kid, and I still watch it now every day on Peacock.

I've also always been a huge fan of the different versions of the opening credits that I've seen over the years for The Bold & The Beautiful. The Bold & The Beautiful definitely has always been my favorite, when it comes to the theme songs and opening credits for CBS' daytime soap operas that I've watched over the years.

Question: Any intel on when/if Caroline will get pregnant on The Bold and the Beautiful? —Tanya
Ausiello: Do I look like an EPT stick, Tanya? (On second thought, don’t answer that.) It’s rude to ask women if they’re pregnant — especially if you’re not sure — so we went the safe route and queried Thorsten Kaye whether Ridge would embrace the news that the stork was on its way. “His reaction would be very happy — if he were the father of the baby,” said the All My Children alum. And if it turns out that Ridge’s son, Thomas, was the not-so-proud papa? (After all, Ridge has been hiding his secret vasectomy from his young wife-to-be.) “It would be a really hard thing for anyone to go along with,” Kaye said. “If you feel like someone is part of your life, and you want them still to be, then maybe you try to figure it out. But,” he couches, “it would take a big man to do that.”

90210: Wow! It really sucks to be…well…pretty much everybody on this show right now (My thoughts on episode 5x18 "A Portrait of the Artist As a Young Call Girl")

It’s been a while since I’ve written any reviews for 90210, and that’s partly because I found the past several episodes rather boring, but it’s mainly because I’ve been getting a ton of traffic for my posts related to the show New Girl, so I decided to focus on that show for a while. Plus, I’ve been working on a couple more long-term and elaborate posts for other shows as well as some writing not related to my blog. Anyway, given the fact that there are only a few episodes left of the series, I’ve decided to get back to writing reviews for the show every week; that being said, here are my thoughts on this episode.

I have to say that my thoughts on this episode as well as the past several episodes have been very mixed. They’ve also caused me to once again think a lot about why I like 90210 more than Gossip Girl, but at the same time I’ve also been thinking about some things that I think both the writers and the cast of Gossip Girl did a better job of compared to the cast and crew of 90210.

One thing that I’ve almost never been able to stop doing whenever I’m watching 90210 would be that I’ve constantly found myself comparing the character Naomi to Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, and this would definitely be example of something that I liked more about Gossip Girl. Both Naomi and Blair are similar to each other in terms of the type of the character that they are: the “bitch” of the show, who’s rich, ambitious and is constantly seeking to elevate their social status. Don’t get me wrong, I like Naomi and I think that AnnaLynne McCord is one of the stronger actresses from the cast of 90210. However, I definitely like Blair more than Naomi, and I like Leighton Meester more than AnnaLynne when it comes to their acting.

When it comes to why I like Blair more, most of it has to do with the writing. To me, Blair has much more depth as a character than Naomi does. To me, a kiddy pool has more depth than Naomi does as a character, and I think the same can be said of the storylines that Blair had throughout Gossip Girl’s run compared to Naomi’s, which often lacked depth and just came across as a lackluster variation of quite a few of Blair’s storylines. For example, the rivalries that Naomi has had throughout 90210’s run have often felt very reminiscent of not only Blair’s storylines, but sometimes Serena’s as well, but where the storylines that revolved around Naomi dealing with a rival usually suffer is the motivation behind the rivalry, which have often been rather shallow and petty, making it hard for me to care that someone was causing problems for Naomi.

The writers for Gossip Girl on the other hand often gave enough depth and proper motivation and reasons for the viewers to get invested in storylines like that. For example, there were times where Naomi’s rivalry with Holly in season four reminded me a lot of Juliet’s vendetta against Serena throughout the first half of Gossip Girl’s fourth season, which I couldn’t help but get emotionally involved in as I was watching that storyline. Sure, I pretty much spent the whole storyline cheering Juliet on as she did everything in her power to ruin Serena’s life, mainly because I hate the character Serena, but at least the writers made me feel something. When it came to Naomi’s feud with Holly, I couldn’t have cared less about it and thought that their whole rivalry was beyond lame.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Tanner Stransky, Ronn Moss has decided to leave the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful after being with the show since its debut in 1987. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Moss' exit:



Production company Bell Phillip Television confirmed the exit. “Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with B&B,” a rep for Bell Phillip said in a statement. “We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors.”

Moss was one of the so-called “core four” on Bold, referring to the foursome of original actors still on the show, including Susan Flannery as Stephanie Forrester, John McCook as Eric Forrester, and Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan.

Moss will shoot his final scenes for The Bold and the Beautiful this Tuesday, Aug. 14, and his last episode will air on a yet-to-be-determined date in September. (As a bit of hope for you fans out there: Big soap stars can — and sometimes do — return after leaving.)

My thoughts: Let me start off by saying that I've only been watching The Bold and the Beautiful for the last four years, so I probably don't have the same level appreciation for the show that people who have been watching the show since it first started. That being said, when I first started watching the show the character Ridge Forrester and the way Ronn Moss played the part absolutely annoyed the hell out of me. The character Ridge and Ronn's acting has grown on me over time, but I'm still not a huge fan of Ridge as a character or of Ronn as an actor, so there's definitely a part of me that's glad that Ronn is leaving the show.

My feelings aside, I do feel bad for the fans of the show who do really like Ronn Moss and the character Ridge. This is definitely big news since he's currently one of the four remaining original cast members. It will be interesting to see how the writers will handle Moss' exit and what this means for Brooke since Brooke and Ridge are supposed to be soul mates. While I've never been a very big fan of Ronn Moss or Ridge, I've always loved the character Brooke and Katherine Kelly Lang as an actress. Hopefully, Ronn Moss leaving the show won't hurt The Bold and the Beautiful's ratings too much.

Katie Cassidy is ditching Gossip Girl for a New Girl.

The actress will guest-star on an episode of Fox’s new, Zooey Deschanel-starring comedy this fall as a wedding guest who catches the eye of Max Greenfield’s female-challenged Schmidt, E! Online reports.

Potenza died in August at age 77.

• Details surrounding Kal Penn’s new NBC project have surfaced: According to our sister site Deadline, the House alum will play “a key assistant to the U.S. ambassador” in a workplace comedy set at the United Nations.

Walking Dead Good News/Bad News, Stacey Dash Exits Single Ladies, DWTS Mulls Same-Sex Pair, and More-TVLine

Now there is literally even more to look forward to when The Walking Dead returns.
AMC announced Thursday that the hotly anticipated Season 2 premiere of the zombie drama will be a supersized 90-minute episode, to air Sunday, Oct. 16 at 9/8c.

Ah, but with this good news comes some bad. Although a half-dozen hour-long installments will air in the weeks to follow, the final six episodes of TWD‘s second cycle won’t unspool until Sunday, Feb. 12 at 9 pm — translating into an 11-week midseason hiatus.

• Stacey Dash has confirmed what has been widely rumored in recent weeks: She’s leaving VH1′s Single Ladies. “I truly enjoyed playing Val … but I have decided to leave the show,” the actress said in a statement to GlobalGrind. Dash cited “shooting location” as the reason for her departure, adding, “I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now.”

• With the news that transgender Chaz Bono would be paired with a female pro this season on Dancing With the Stars, some wondered why fellow celeb hoofer Carson Kressley — who is openly gay — was not paired with a man. “We thought about it,” exec producer Conrad Green tells E! Online. But…? “We try to follow what happens in real ballroom competitions,” Green said. “And while we are aware that there are same-sex couples, the competitions are usually mixed-gendered.”

• TVLine has unveiled exclusive details on Jake Pavelka’s return to The Bold and the Beautiful. In his first go-round the former Bachelor piloted the Forrester jet; this time he’ll be flying several members of the family to Aspen — where the CBS sudser is headed next week for a location shoot.

• Chris McKenna (One Life to Live, Harry’s Law) has landed a multi-ep arc on The CW’s 90210 as a love interest for Annie, per EW.com. As TVLine previously reported, Shenae Grimes’ West Bev gal will dabble in some escort employment in Season 4.

• Cougar Town boss Bill Lawrence has sold a multi-cam comedy pilot to CBS with former How I Met Your Mother exec producer Greg Malins, per Deadline.

• Deadline also reports that NBC is adapting a small screen version of the classic 1980s rom-com Romancing the Stone. The Forgotten creator Mark Friedman will pen the project.

• Fresh out of prison, rapper T.I. has landed a 10-episode docu-series to premiere on VH1 Dec. 5 at 10 pm.

• Speaking of AMC… Fresh off of his, um, dreamy return, Josh Duhamel has joined the cast of Disney Jr.’s adorable animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates. • Shawn Ryan is at it again! The Shield/Terriers/Chicago Code showrunner has teamed with Criminal Minds writer-producer Simon Mirren on a new crime drama/fringe science pilot for CBS.

• Comedian Luka Jones has replaced the otherwise-occupied Adam Pally (Happy Endings) as the male lead in the NBC midseason comedy Best Friends Forever, per Deadline. Fellow Upright Citizens Brigade standup alumna Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair also star.

• Comedy Central has given a series order to Brickleberry, an animated show about a group of dysfunctional forest rangers. Tosh.0 host Daniel Tosh will executive-produce.
