Ausiello: The WSB would put out a hit on me if I told you everything, so how about I just tell you this: You might need tissues for the moment when Luke and Lucky Spencer are reunited; Genie Francis (Laura) says watching Geary act opposite Jonathan Jackson again nearly did her in. “There’s some amazing scenes between Tony and Jonathan,” she tells TVLine. “I stood at the monitor and couldn’t move, couldn’t leave.” Even sadder (for us): Francis adds that she and Jackson didn’t have any one-on-one scenes during his return to the ABC soap.

Burn Notice: Scoop on the season 7 premiere (Episode 7x01 "New Deal") from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Welcome to the jungle — and thank you for asking about the season premiere I screened earlier today (and airing June 6). Though the action picks up nine months after the events of the finale, there are flashbacks to explain exactly why Michael re-upped with the agency that burned him — even if it meant ostracizing friends, family and one fab femme. We then in short order meet Adrian Pasdar’s character, a terrorist that lands in Michael’s crosshairs, as well as catch a few glimpses of Fi’s new beau/partner in bounty hunting (played by General Hospital‘s Stephen Martines). All told, the two-hour opener is — save for one boffo boner by Ma — quite solid, washing away any bad taste left by the so-so Season 6 finale. Plus, it features another flashback that is sure to top the mornin’ of many a Michael/Fi fan.

90210: Are the writers even aware of the concept of reality? (My thoughts on episode 5x03 “It’s All Fun and Games”)

After having watched the first three episodes of season five, I have to say that I’m thoroughly enjoying the season so far. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have any issues or complaints with this season at this point, or more specially this episode, because I do. I definitely have some major issues with this episode, but some of them aren’t necessarily limited to just this one episode. Some of the biggest issues that I have with the show right now go all the way back to last season, especially when it comes to Liam and Silver’s storylines. Although, for the record I’m probably enjoying those storylines the most so far this season despite the issues that I have with them.

I’ll start with Silver’s storyline since I simultaneously really like it and have the most problems with it all at the same time. First off, I like it because while I’m a guy and I personally can’t relate to it, I think it’s safe to say that her overall storyline right now has a certain level of relatability for a lot of the female viewers since breast cancer, ovarian and uterine cancer affects so many women. As someone who also watches Gossip Girl, I think it’s pretty safe to say that this is a storyline that the writers of Gossip Girl would never have even thought of doing. I say that because 99% percent of the storylines on that show seem to revolve around the characters’ sexual flings, whatever big extravagant party they’re going to in a particular episode, various schemes that the characters are constantly concocting and most perhaps most frequently Chuck and Blair’s sick, twisted and abusive relationship that the writers never stopped thinking of as a modern day fairytale romance.

While I like Silver’s overall storyline for that reason, I really do have a lot of issues with it. First off, I get that she wants to have a baby and experience being pregnant before she has the surgery that BRCA gene patients have, but I have to wonder if Silver has even thought about how she plans to financially support and raise a child on her own at her age, especially when she doesn’t even have a college education. Not having a college degree definitely limits her job options. There’s also the fact that she said that she wanted to do this own her own since neither Liam or Navid are ready to be a father, so she’ll be a single parent. Sure, Teddy is rich and he has agreed to donate some of his sperm, but she told him that she wasn’t expecting anything else from him, so unless he decides that he wants to help support the child financially, she’ll be on her own in terms of having money to raise the child.

While I’m not a huge fan of Silver’s storyline with her wanting to have a baby now, I’m going to try to not fixate on how many issues I have with the storyline. It’s still very early in the season, so I suppose something could happen that leads Silver to not have a baby after all, especially since the current writers have always had the tendency to go all over the place with the characters in the span of just one season, which is something I’ll discuss a little more in a moment.

In terms of Silver’s storyline in this episode, Naomi, Adrianna and Annie threw Silver a “Baby to Be” shower complete with a stripper. Naomi gave Silver a gift certificate for a photo session with a photographer so she can get some baby bump pictures taken when she’s about eight months pregnant. I have to say that for the most part I usually find baby bump pictures rather weird looking. A lot of the poses that women take in those pictures are just downright awkward. Personally, I think getting baby bump pictures are just a really bizarre way to spend money, but I digress.

General Hospital's Jason Thompson to guest-star in a season 5 epiosode of 90210-TVLine

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Jason Thompson will be guest-starring in the third episode of 90210's fifth season. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Thompson's role:



He’ll appear in Episode 3 as a detective named Eugene Thompsen whose case centers on something major — and top secret! — that goes down at the start of the season.

The suds star first mentioned his primetime gig via Twitter.

Thompson joins the series’ ever-increasing list of upcoming guest stars, including One Tree Hill‘s Lindsey McKeon, songstress Carly Rae Jepsen and 24‘s Riley Smith, as well as returning matriarch Lori Loughlin.

My thoughts: This news is really exciting to me for several reasons. First off, 90210 is my favorite teen drama. Secondly, Jason Thompson is favorite actor on General Hospital. I would watch General Hospital more often if I didn't feel like I was watching a daytime version of The Sopranos since Sonny and Jason's mob dealings seem to dominate the show. If I wanted to watch a show about people who are a part of the mob, then I would buy the DVD sets of The Sopranos, but I don't. I want to watch a show that focuses on the drama that's going on with the people who work at General Hospital or at least things not related to the mob. If I want to watch a hospital drama, I guess I'll have to stick with Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, which are much better than General Hospital.

That being said, Jason's character and the storyline that he'll be involved with sounds very interesting. All of the spoilers that I've read for season 5 of 90210 sound a million times more interesting than all of the news that I've read about the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl. At this point, I'm not feeling too optimistic that the final season of Gossip Girl will be very good.

General Hospital Adds Four One Life to Live Actors/Characters

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson, Kassie DePaiva and Roger Howarth will all be joining the cast of General Hospital, and they will all be playing their characters from One Life To Live.

The series finale of One Life To Live airs on ABC this Friday. Easton, Alderson, DePaiva and Howarth are currently set to start filming for General Hospital this month.

At least two Llanviewers rendered “homeless” by ABC’s cancellation of One Life to Live (and Prospect Park’s decision to bail on the soap’s online continuation) may soon relocate to Port Charles.


Though unconfirmed by an ABC rep, Ted King, who played OLTL‘s Tomas, is due to start taping scenes for General Hospital next month, our friends at ABC Soaps in Depth report.

SID hears that Michael Easton (aka OLTL‘s John McBain) is set to join GH as well.

King, of course, previously played two Alcazar brothers, Luis and Lorenzo, on GH — both now dead — but it’s not clear if he would play yet another member of the international crime family or a brand-new character.

Easton has never appeared on GH proper, but did play vampire Caleb on the ABC sudser’s spin-off, Port Charles, where he was paired with Kelly Monaco’s Livvie. (Monaco now plays GH‘s Sam.) SID hears from at least one source that Easton will likely bring his OLTL crime-solver to Port Charles.

Both King and Easton had signed on to be a part of OLTL‘s online continuation, but Prospect Park pulled the plug on that venture in late November. Thus, OLTL‘s final episode will air Friday, Jan. 13 on ABC.

Finola Hughes Returns to General Hospital for Robin’s Exit Storyline

Earlier this month, there was talk that another OLTL vet, Bree Williamson (Jessica), would switch to GH, though an ABC insider told TVLine that was a “big fat rumor.”

House Exclusive: GH Alum Cuts to the Chase-TVLine

It looks like Chase is about to have quite a religious experience on House.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that actress Julie Mond — best known as General Hospital‘s original Lisa — has been tapped to guest star in an upcoming episode centered around Jesse Spencer’s Chase.

According to an insider, Mond will play a nun who Chase treats when she comes into the clinic.

In an interview with TVLine last month, Spencer teased that an early ’12 installment would find Chase connecting with a patient. “A patient gets into his head,” he said, “and it will have implications.”

Finola Hughes Returns to General Hospital-TVLine

Finola Hughes is returning once more to General Hospital.

The reappearance of international jet-setter Anna Devane is set to take place during February sweeps, TV Guide Magazine reports, and will coincide with the exit of Kimberly McCullough, who plays Hughes’ onscreen daughter, Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake.

A spokesperson for the ABC soap tells the mag that Anna will be “very involved with Robin and Patrick” during her time back in Port Charles.

While it’s always nice to see a familiar face, Hughes’ return as the doting mother further fuels rumors that Robin — who is HIV-positive and just this week revealed that her treatments are no longer effective — will be killed off the show is tragic fashion. To that, the GH rep would only say, “The writers are still working that out. Everyone is very aware of Robin’s history of living with HIV and wants to do the right thing. I will leave it at that.”

McCullough last month announced plans to exit her longtime GH role to pursue her dream of directing full-time. She is currently slated to depart “as storyline dictates” sometime in early 2012, though obviously no sooner than February.

General Hospital Shake-Up! Jill Farren Phelps Out as Show Boss, OLTL's Frank Valentini In-TVLine

Christmas came early for some General Hospital fans late Wednesday night, when Soaps In Depth broke the news via Twitter that Jill Farren Phelps is on her way out as executive producer of what soon will be ABC’s lone daytime sudser.

Taking over the reins at GH will be Frank Valentini, who had been with One Life to Live since 1985 and served as EP there since 2003. The well-regarded show boss became a free agent last Friday when Prospect Park formally abandoned its plan to keep the Llanviewers alive via an online video hub. OLTL airs its series finale on Friday, Jan. 13; the lifestyle show The Revolution seizes the soap’s time slot the following Monday.

One source tells In Depth that Phelps’ pact with the soap was up in mid-December, and that the cast would be getting word of the switcheroo on Thursday morning.

JFP, who had helmed GH for a decade, had come under fire as of late in the wake of 1) wilting ratings that threaten to make GH extra-dispensable to ABC affiliates when Katie Couric’s daytime talker debuts next September, and 2) the announced exit of Emmy-winning fan fave Jonathan Jackson, who in leaving cited several requests of TPTB that fell on deaf ears. Similarly, another Emmy-winning GH vet, Kimberly MCullough, recently announced her plan to vacate the role of Robin, so that she may pursue a career in directing.

Kimberly McCullough to Exit General Hospital-TVLine

Robin Scorpio is once again saying so long to Port Charles, as the beloved character’s sole portrayer, Kimberly McCullough, has decided to exit her longtime role on General Hospital.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, a show spokesperson confirmed the news, revealing that McCullough has chosen to pursue her dream of directing full-time, and as such will depart the ABC soap “as storyline dictates” in early 2012.

“Expect a poignant and must-watch storyline for Robin and Patrick,” added the rep.

McCullough originated the character of GH‘s Robin in 1985, at age 7, and was a steady part of the serial through 1996. After taking time off to appear in primetime projects such as Once and Again, The Stones and Joan of Arcadia, she returned to GH in a regular capacity in October 2005.

During her original GH run, McCullough collected two Emmys, including one for her work in one of the daytime drama’s most lauded storylines, where teenage Robin contracted HIV after having unprotected sex with her boyfriend Stone, who was unknowingly carrying the virus.

Another General Hospital staple, Jonathan Jackson, earlier this month also opted out of his role as Lucky Spencer.

General Hospital Star Jonathan Jackson Quits the ABC Soap-TVLine

General Hospital is once again losing its prodigal son, Lucky Spencer, now that Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson has reportedly decided to exit what will soon be ABC’s sole-surviving soap.


According to TV Guide Magazine, Jackson was “exhausted… from months of harrowing storylines” which included but were certainly not limited to the deaths of Lucky’s son and wife, as well as the character’s relapse into the world of prescription drugs.

More One Life to Live Stars Join Online Venture

Making an abrupt exit apparently was not the suds vet’s first choice. Per TV Guide Magazine, Jackson is said to have reached out to GH‘s Powers That Be about lightening his load, to no avail. He also unsuccessfully attempted to rekindle Lucky’s fan-favorite romance with Rebecca Herbst’s Elizabeth.

Jackson is slated to make his final GH appearance sometime between mid-December and early January 2012. According to Soap Opera Digest, which first reported on his exit, there is no word yet on any plans to recast the role of Lucky, which was played by two others — Jacob Young and Greg Vaughn — in between Jackson’s original 1993-99 run and his current encore, which began in late 2009.

Hawaii Five-0 Casts Ingo Rademacher-TVLine

Former General Hospital dreamboat Ingo Rademacher is saying aloha to Hawaii Five-0.

The actor has signed on to guest star in an early ’12 episode of the CBS drama, sources confirm to TVLine.

He’ll play a father whose kid is being held prisoner on a hijacked school bus — a crisis his character may be more involved in than he initially led McGarrett and Co. to believe.

This is Rademacher’s first TV gig since wrapping up his nearly continuous 15-year run as Jax on GH.

He also recently shot a role in the big screen thriller I, Alex Cross, due out next year.

General Hospital Wedding Scoop: Jason and Sam Will Get Hitched, But 'Expect the Unexpected'-TVLine

After years (and years) together, General Hospital‘s Jason and Sam will tie the knot this week (with the storyline culminating Friday, Sept. 23). Of course, this is Port Charles, and nothing in this upstate burg goes off without a hitch — or more often than not, a shootout.

TVLine spoke with daytime vets Kelly Monaco and Steve Burton about what fans can expect from the couple’s double set of I Dos (yes, there are two weddings!). And they told us to“Expect the unexpected.” After all, what would a wedding be without the reappearance of James Franco’s big bad, Franco?

TVLINE | What can fans look forward to in a Jason/Sam wedding? In promos, we’ve seen Sam in a wedding gown, but it looks like there’s also a much more casual ceremony.
MONACO | You can expect the unexpected, and you get the best of both worlds. We have a little bit of a traditional and an nontraditional ceremony going on.




BURTON | Jason wanted to give Sam a traditional wedding — what every girl dreams of, with the fancy dress and the romance of the day — but he’s a non-traditional guy. He was doing all of this to show her that he’s committed to her, and thankfully they end up having a non-traditional wedding in jeans and T-shirts, in a Chinese restaurant.
MONACO | I loved it! It’s pretty true to the characters. Sam was adamant about not wanting a big to-do, but lo and behold, she got a little bit of both. So, we wind up at the restaurant and get married there, and then we get to go to the church and tell our friends and family that we’re already married…
BURTON | And they don’t really like that very much. [Laughs]
MONACO | No, they don’t. [Laughs] Maxie pretty much faints.
BURTON | It’s a lot of drama leading up to that day, a lot of twists and turns –
MONACO | Even on the actual day there’s a lot of mystery involved.

TVLINE | So, they definitely tie the knot. But once they’re at the ceremony, Franco returns?
MONACO | We open these fortune cookies up at the church ceremony –




BURTON | And that’s when he first makes his appearance back. He’ll be around for a little, while causing some trouble for Jason and Sam — but we’ll be ready for him.
MONACO | Watch out, I might have to shoot him. [Laughs] Hey, Jason’s my man!

TVLINE | Were you both excited to finally get to play this, after all of these years together onscreen?
MONACO | Yes! It’s been a lot of ups and downs for us.
BURTON | I don’t even know how many years it’s been for us, but we were ready — and the show was ready to take it to the next step. It just progresses the characters and their lives.
MONACO | Yeah, they’re growing up! Sam put her big girl shoes on.
BURTON | It was time. We’re excited and we’re having fun on the show — that will definitely translate for the fans.

TVLINE | Should we expect to see Carly cause any drama on JaSam’s wedding day?
MONACO | No, because Jason’s motorcycle only fits one. [Laughs] Can you imagine?
BURTON | Jason had to put boundaries up for Carly, and she respects them as much as she can. She’s not on the honeymoon, which is a good start. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Oooh, so Jason and Sam are lucky enough to make it to a honeymoon…?
MONACO | We do have a honeymoon. I’m 99.9 percent sure we’re gonna get some skin.
BURTON | I don’t know what that means, but here we go! [Laughs]

Ellen Pompeo Up for More Grey's Anatomy, Regis Philbin's Live Finale, GH Wedding Peek-TVLine

Grey’s Anatomy fans, take heart: Ellen Pompeo — whom you know well and love as Seattle Grace’s Meredith Grey — has revealed that Season 8 of the ABC medical drama will not necessarily not be her last.



Talking to TV Guide Magazine, Pompeo opened up about the possibility of continuing with Grey’s beyond her contract’s expiration at the end of the upcoming season, saying, “I would love the opportunity to discuss it. I would never turn up my nose at Grey’s. As long as the stories are honest and truthful, and Patrick [Dempsey] and I feel there is material for us to be passionate about, it still beats a 9-to-5 job any day.”

Adds the actress, “If I hear from the fans that they want us to keep going, then I would continue, because we owe them everything.”

There’s only one problem: “I was invited for eight years… and no one has asked me for a day more,” Pompeo explains. “I know [series boss] Shonda Rhimes has said the show will continue [beyond that], but I wouldn’t presume that they want to continue with me.”

• Daytime TV king Regis Philbin has announced that Friday, Nov. 18 will be his last day as host of Live With Regis & Kelly. Ever the charmer, Philbin revealed that while his replacement has yet to be found, “Kelly will be trying out new co-hosts, just like we did 11 years ago, when we found her!” Live‘s recently premiered new season will be devoted to Regis’ “favorite moments” from the past 28 years, including Ripa’s first appearance as a guest/All My Children ingenue, in a clip they shared on Monday.

• General Hospital tough Jason Morgan (played by Steve Burton) and his longtime love Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) will finally tie the knot beginning Sept. 19; EW.com has your first look at the unconventional I Dos here.

• Greg Daniels is at it again! After (more than) successfully adapting Ricky Gervais’ British comedy The Office for NBC, the über-accomplished executive producer will try his hand at bringing U.K. hit Friday Night Dinner to the U.S. for none other than the Peacock network, per Deadline.

• The new Fox comedy New Girl is getting sneak peek treatment before its official debut on Sept. 28. Per Variety, the Zooey Deschanel vehicle will hit iTunes on Sept. 6, and then will appear on Hulu, Fox.com and VOD beginning Sept. 13.

• Kate del Castillo (aka Weeds‘ Pilar Zuzua) will appear in the fifth episode of CSI: Miami‘s upcoming season as a sheriff who assists Horatio Cane when the notorious Mala Noche gang resurfaces, CSI Files reports.

• Bachelor Pad fiends… rejoice? EW.com reports that the Sept. 12 season finale of the ABC reality show has been supersized to occupy a whopping three-hour block of time.

• Take note, Kindle owners: The pilot episode script of ABC’s promising fall drama Revenge (starring Emily VanCamp) can be downloaded from now until its Sept. 21 premiere date.
