According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, Josh Stamberg will be guest-starring in an episode of the upcoming eighth season of Criminal Minds. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on Stamberg's role:

TVLine has learned that Stamberg will guest-star on the CBS crime drama in Season 8′s third episode, “Through the Looking Glass,” as the father of a desperate family that has been abducted.

Stamberg tends to keep busy during Diva hiatuses; prior to this, he booked a double-episode arc on ABC’s Castle, playing a suspicious CIA agent. His TV credits also include The Whole Truth and Studio 60.

Season 8 of Criminal Minds kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 9/8c.

My thoughts: Aside from Drop Dead Diva, I'm not very familiar with Josh Stamberg as an actor, but I've always liked him on Drop Dead Diva. Also, I had already heard a little bit about the episode that he'll be guest-starring in and the episode sounds very interesting, so now that I know that Josh is going to be guest-starring in the episode, I'm looking forward to this episode even more.

Parenthood: Matt Lauria Lands Recurring Guest-Star Role In Season 4-TVLine

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Matt Lauria has been cast in a recurring guest-star role in season 4 of Parenthood. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on Lauria's role:

Lauria, whose post-FNL roles have included Fox’s cop drama Chicago Code and an arc on CSI, will play a returning soldier from Afghanistan who bonds with fellow war vet Zeek (Craig T. Nelson).

Coincidentally, Lauria’s FNL character, Luke, enlisted in the army in the show’s series finale.

This brings to six the number of FNL actors Katims has brought on to Parenthood. In addition to Lauria, Minka Kelly, Michael B. Jordan, Derek Phillips, Angela Rawna and Jeff Rosick have also appeared on the show.

Parenthood kicks off its fourth season on Sept. 11.

My thoughts: This casting news sounds very interesting to me personally, because one of my biggest complaints that I used to have about Parenthood was that I felt like the writers often neglected to give Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia a decent amount of screentime and good material to work with on the show. I feel like the writers really did a good job of rectifying that last season and finally gave them the amount of screen time and material that they deserve. If this casting news is any indication, it sounds like the writers are going to continue to give them some good material to work with and a decent amount of screen time time in season 4.

NCIS: Casting related scoop on season 10 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on NCIS from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: NCIS spoilers, please! —Missy
Ausiello: I’ve got some info on three guest-star roles that’ll show up the CBS procedural during the upcoming season. The eccentric Dr. Blackwell is a big-deal space geologist who weighs in on some mysterious material the feds bring him, and Ellie is an upper-middle-class lady who blames herself for her father’s death a decade ago and is shocked when new information tells a different story. But wait, I saved the best for last: The show’s looking for a 50-ish male to play an aging one-hit wonder from the late 1970s who blew his earnings in the ’80s and has been skirting creditors ever since – and if it works out, an actual rock star from that era will get the part.

The Good Wife: Scoop on Alicia and Will's relationship and more on season 4 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Good Wife from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any fresh Will/Alicia Good Wife intel? —Donna
Ausiello: Don’t hold your breath for a reunion. “They were two people who were in a love relationship who had sex who now have to work together with all of that heated emotion in their backpacks, and that’s difficult,” notes executive producer Robert King. “It’s not over in the sense that you can’t really close the door on something that happened. But are they two people trying to move on? Yes.” Bonus scoop: Kristin Chenoweth, who was injured earlier this month when a piece of scaffolding hit her in the head while on the Good Wife set, is “doing better,” reports King. “We have her written into the third, fourth and fifth episode. We’ll see if it works out. She’s so good in the first episode; we need her back.”

Ausiello: Janie, this is White Collar. Of course there’ll be other ladies in Neal’s life. Now, whether the following guest star will be one of them, I’m not at liberty to say: Calloway, the New York White Collar Division’s new boss, is a go-getter who’s “disarmingly forward, thorough and direct” – and Peter’s surprised that someone so young holds the power position.

(“She’s got some political aspirations this season,” Jeri Ryan told us, “so it will be interesting to see where that goes.”) Well for one, sparks will fly between her and Mr. D.A., which is probably why the role of Dan is classified as a multiple recurring guest star: We’ll be seeing him a lot.

CSI: NY: Scoop on episode 9x03, Danny and Lindsay related scoop on episode 9x04 and more from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on CSI: NY from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Are we going to see more of Danny and Lindsay’s daughter, Lucy, this season on CSI: NY? —Gloria
Ausiello: The little tyke will appear in Episode 4 when an innocent family outing turns tragic. “Danny and Lindsay are out in the city with Lucy and Lindsay finds herself in a little bit of danger,” reveals exec producer Pam Veasey. “She becomes an unfortunate victim and reluctant witness to something.” Meanwhile, Veasey says Season 9 will feature more “humor, surprises, gimmicks and personal stories,” adding, “Every character will have an episode where we follow them home on their day off.” The show will also shoot a portion of Episode 3 on location in San Francisco. “The hook is ‘bridge to bridge,’” she shares. “Brooklyn to Golden Gate. Parenthood: Drew related scoop on season 4 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Parenthood from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any Drew-related Parenthood scoop? Will he still be with Amy? —Kim
Ausiello: Yes, but their relationship is doomed. The high school sweethearts break up early in the season and Drew, naturally, is “heartbroken,” says exec producer Jason Katims, adding, “As sweet as it was to see him have his first romance, I’m actually more excited to see him heartbroken and trying to get over it.” Making matters more angsty for the awkward teen, “Sarah may decide at some point in the season to move in with Mark,” Katims shares. “Drew hasn’t really bonded with Mark, so it would put him in a very uncomfortable position to be living in a small apartment with his mom and her guy, who is also a teacher at his school.”

Downton Abbey: Bates and Anna related scoop on the season 3 finale from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Downton Abbey from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: How about a Downton Abbey spoiler on my fave duo Bates and Anna? —Georgia
Ausiello: A sequence in the Season 3 finale featuring the lovebirds will likely have you crying out for the continuity police when it airs next year. The scene in question was shot on July 19 — aka Emmy nominations day — and, as Anna’s portrayer, Joanne Froggatt, explains, ”Brendan [Coyle] and I had just shot one half of the scene and then we broke for lunch. [During my lunch break] Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) called and told me I was nominated, and I just screamed and jumped up and down in my dressing room. And then I didn’t see Brendnan until we got back on set, so we were like, ‘We’ve both been nominated!’ So one half of the scene was shot pre-Emmy nominations and one half is shot post-Emmy nominations. In the [later] shot I have very red ears and a flushed face, so makeup had to spray me down with foundation!”

Bones: Scoop on the possibility of Emily Deschanel directing an episode and more from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Bones from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Is this the season that Emily Deschanel finally directs an episode of Bones? —Marie-Eve
Ausiello: Probably not. “We would love her to direct, but the issue is the baby,” says exec producer Stephen Nathan of the new real-life mom. “She’s going to have a toddler and it’s just so hard to juggle the time. It’s hard under the best of circumstances, but to act on the show, feed the baby, play with the baby and direct…. I don’t know how it’s possible.”

Question: I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m ridiculously excited about Bones‘ upcoming all-squintern episode. Got any scoop? —Laurie
Ausiello: Hopefully someone at Fox was capturing behind-the-scenes footage for use as a DVD extra. “Watching those boys off camera was I think as entertaining as watching them on camera,” reports Tamara Taylor, who plays Cam. ”The amount of testosterone flying around the room was awesome.” The episode itself involves Team Squintern attempting to solve a mystery regarding a victim of the 9/11 attacks. “They’re all competing to crack the case,” Taylor explains. “Nerds, believe it or not, have egos too.”

Here's some scoop on Suburgatory from this week's (Posted on 7/31/12) Ask Ausiello column.

Ausiello: “That is something that we explore heavily throughout the season through some pretty extensive flashbacks into purgatory,” reveals new showrunner Jeremy Carver. “People are always referring to purgatory as hell, and purgatory is not hell. Purgatory is a really brutal, free-wheeling place, but it has different effects on different people. It will have a different effect on Cas and Dean as you already started to see [in the Season 7 finale]. But I will say what you think you saw might not be exactly what you saw.”

Ausiello: This sounds potentially hilarious: The new showrunners are looking for a known actor or actress to play an older British professor who used to teach at Oxford. The tough history teacher will at first appear to be out of place in Greendale’s less-than-professional atmosphere, but a few episodes into Season 4, we’ll see that the prof is just as big a mess as anyone else on campus. White Collar: Wow! Peter has a very boring new job, but Neal has an extremely interesting past! (My thoughts on episode 4x03 Diminishing Returns)

Let me start off by saying that except for the parts of the episode where more details about Neal’s past were revealed, I personally found this episode rather dull for the most part. I don’t know why exactly, but I just didn’t think that the case that they were working on in this episode was all that interesting.

Peter was reassigned to the FBI’s evidence warehouse AKA The Cave because he had been trying to search for Neal while he was on the run against the bureau’s specific orders. His new job was rather dull and his boss was a major hard-ass who told him that if he was just a minute late for work or he left work just a minute early he would put it in his report to the bureau, which would make it even harder for Peter to get his old job working for the white-collar division back. His new supervisor also made him end his one-hour lunch break thirty minutes earlier than he was supposed to because new evidence had just come in that he needed to catalog. I feel really bad for Peter having that guy for a supervisor, especially since I’ve had to deal with several assistant managers who are like that at my job. It’s not fun, not fun at all.

As for the case of the week, Neal decided to investigate an old case involving a criminal mastermind who had a history of robbing banks and jewelry stores that Peter had wanted to revisit before he had been reassigned because it was getting close to the time when the criminal mastermind would strike again since his previous pattern was to strike every five years. Since Peter isn’t working in the white-collar division anymore, Neal and Diana were the ones who worked on the case officially with Peter helping them when he wasn’t on the clock. Neal and Peter quickly discovered that guy who was behind the crimes was left-handed, which helped them narrow it down even more to a man named David Cook. Part of Peter’s previous investigation for the case involved working undercover at a bank several years using the name Peter Morris as his alias where he had met David Cook. Peter got in touch with him again and as a part of his plan he played Squash with him at a rec center while Neal broke into his locker in the men’s locker room to search for evidence. Based on the evidence that Neal found in David’s locker they figured out that he was targeting a jewelry store for his next heist.

Like I said, I found this whole storyline rather dull for the most part, but I liked that Elizabeth was able to offer some information about what jewelry stores David might try to rob and which ones he probably wouldn’t based on their security systems. She knew about several jewelry store’s security systems thanks to her experiences working with clients for her event planning company when they went shopping for wedding rings. I always like it when Elizabeth gets involved with Neal and Peter’s cases. Diana was also able to rule out a jewelry store because of her knowledge of the jewelry store where she and her girlfriend went shopping for wedding rings.

Neal was surprised to discover that Mozzie had returned to New York City after he had told him in the previous episode that he was going off on his own for a while. However, Mozzie told him that he realized that retiring from a life of crime at this point in time wasn’t what he wanted after all. Mozzie also told him that he could retire when he wanted to at some other time in the future. Thankfully, Mozzie returned clean-shaven, which makes me ecstatic because Willie Garson’s facial hair was beyond gross.

In the end, they managed to catch and arrest David by tricking him into believing that Peter was meeting up with a fellow criminal, Rina, since the FBI had given Peter’s cover for his job at the bank a fake criminal record. Because Peter had been busy working on the case he hadn’t finished cataloging all the evidence in the warehouse himself, but when he showed up for work he was surprised to discover that everything had been cataloged. At first Peter didn’t know how that was possible, but he quickly noticed Mozzie dressed up in an FBI warehouse worker uniform as he was leaving the building and realized that Mozzie was the one who had done all of the cataloguing. It really surprised me that Mozzie catalogued all the evidence for Peter given his distrust of law enforcement. If I had to guess why Mozzie did that for Peter, I’m guessing that Neal asked him to do it so Peter could work on the case when he wasn’t on the clock.

The most interesting part of this episode to me was what was revealed about Neal’s past. We learned that his father’s name was James and his father was convicted of murder for killing another police officer when he when was working on the police force. Neal grew up in witness protection with Ellen who was Neal’s father’s partner on the police force. Ellen basically raised him because his mother apparently checked out mentally and emotionally after they went into witness protection. Neal lived in witness protection under the name Danny Brooks. When Neal was eighteen he took his mother’s maiden name, Caffrey, as his last name. The episode ended with Neal asking Ellen to tell him everything she knew about his father.

Personally, I thought it was really interesting that Neal had wanted to be a police officer when he was younger, because he wanted to be like his dad. I thought it was really heartbreaking when Neal said that he did end up growing up to be like his father in the sense that he became a criminal. I’m glad that Peter told him that wasn’t true since he wasn’t a murderer. One thing is for sure though, Neal’s past is even more interesting than I had originally thought.

All in things considered, while I didn’t really find the case of the week all that interesting, it was great getting to learn more about Neal’s past. I really like that the writers are having Neal try to learn more about his father this season so he can learn more about who he is as a person. The writers of White Collar as well as the writers of a lot of the USA network’s other shows, such as Suits, have always done a great job of creating shows that are very character driven, which as a writer is something that I can really appreciate.

That being said, I give this episode a rating of a B+.

We sure can, but it has to do with Rachel (Lea Michele) kind of. Glee's premiere episode will find New Directions looking to rebuild the group after losing the seniors. Task number one? Finding their new Rachel aka the lead vocalist. We happen to know who it is, and we think fans are in for a surprise. One person we can rule out? Brittany (Heather Morris).

Perception: Episode 1x05 "The Messenger" Promo (HD)

Here's the promo for next week's episode, episode 1x05 "The Messenger". It looks like this is going to be another great episode. :)

The Big C: Renewed For a Fourth and Final Season-TVLine

Laura Linney The Big C

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Showtime has renewed The Big C for a short fourth and final season, which will consist of four one-hour episodes. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on The Big C's renewal:

The cancer dramedy’s series finale will air on Sept. 16.

Safe to assume the series will conclude with Laura Linney’s Cathy succumbing to her illness? ”I wouldn’t assume anything about how its going to end,” Nevins warned. “They have a very interesting, novel and form-breaking way to handle where the show is going.”

My thoughts: While I'm glad that Showtime has renewed The Big C for a fourth and final season, I really wish that they had renewed it for more than just four episodes. I think it would have been better if they had renewed it for at least eight episodes like they did with The L Word's sixth and final season. Maybe the writers will prove me wrong, but I don't think four episodes is enough to give the show a satisfying ending.

His character, Nero Padilla, makes a, um, connection with Gemma that could have some ripple effects into the season.

"Supernatural": Good news, Castiel fans! Misha Collins will be in a minimum of 8 episodes of "Supernatural" this season. The not-so-good news? Exclusive: Brothers & Sisters Alum to Hunt Mark Pellegrino on Grimm - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

According to TVGuide's Hanh Nguyen, John Pyper-Ferguson will be guest-starring an episode of the upcoming second season of Grimm. Here's an excerpt from the original article:

Brothers & Sisters actor John Pyper-Ferguson will guest-star on "Bad Moon Rising," the third episode of Grimm's second season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. He'll play Hayden Walker, a man who is mourning his deceased sister and wants to exact justice from Jarold (Mark Pellegrino) for disgracing his family name. Only problem? Hayden has to take his family to Portland to track Jarold down.

As previously reported, Pellegrino's Jarold is an old high school buddy of police detective Hank (Russell Hornsby), whose daughter goes missing. Both Hayden and Jarold are the coyotl type of Wesen, coyote-like creatures that are mean, nasty bullies who have a strong pack mentality and don't take kindly to those who turn their back them.

My thoughts: I was already looking forward to the episode that Mark Pellegrino will be guest-starring in next season since the premise of the episode sounds very interesting, but now that it has been announced that John Pyper-Ferguson will also be guest-starring in the episode, I'm looking forward to the episode even more. I liked him on Brothers & Sisters, but I loved him in the episode of Lie To Me that he guest-starred in as the leader of a religious cult several years ago. When Grimm premiered last fall, it quickly became one of my favorite TV shows last year. Based on all the spoilers and casting news for season 2 of Grimm that have been announced so far, it sounds like season 2 is going to be awesome. :)

The Office: Staffs Up, Hires Better With You Alum Jake Lacy as New Regular-TVLine

Jake Lacy The Office

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Jake Lacy is joining the cast of The Office as a series regular for its upcoming ninth season. Lacy is joining the cast of The Office as a part of the show's "mini-reboot" for the upcoming season. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some scoop on the changes that are taking place in front of and behind the cameras:

The actor joins fellow Office rookie Clark Duke, who inked his own series regular deal earlier this month. The news marks a nice turnaround for Lacy, who was dropped from Fox’s midseason comedy The Goodwin Games last month after starring in the pilot.

As previously reported, The Office is set to undergo a mini-reboot this fall amid changes in front of and behind the scenes — including the departure of showrunner Paul Lieberstein as well as the possible exit of a soon-to-be spun off Rainn Wilson. Additionally, B.J. Novak (Ryan) and Fox-bound Mindy Kaling (Kelly) will not be returning full-time.

The Office launches its ninth season on Sept. 20.

Link to the full article:The Office Casts Jake Lacy -- Season 9 - TVLine

My thoughts: While I really think NBC needs to stop feasting on the dwindling carcass of creativity that makes up The Office and just let it end with at least a little bit of dignity, I still enjoy watching The Office and I'm willing to keep an open mind about Jake Lacy and Clark Duke joining the cast as series regulars. I don't think that I'd be so willing to keep an open mind about these changes if I wasn't a fan of Jake Lacy and Clark Duke. I absolutely loved Jake Lacy on Better With You and Clark Duke and his character on Greek, Dale, was always one of my favorite things about Greek, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them on The Office.

I know that I said this before, but I personally think that having B.J. Novak no longer be a part of the show full time is several seasons overdue. Also, the character Dwight has been absolutely annoying the hell out of me for at least the past three seasons, so I personally would be beyond thrilled if Rainn Wilson left the show. That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing who Jake Lacy and Clark Duke will be playing and how they will fit into the show next season.

'Revenge' Season 2: Charlotte is Back, Daniel Has a New Lady...But Where is Madeleine Stowe? | Hollywood.com

ALT
Here's an article by Hollywood.com's Shaunna Murphy, which gives some scoop on season 2 of Revenge straight from Gabriel Mann. In the article, Mann talks about the fact that Madeleine Stowe hasn't been saying anything about season 2 and that she hasn't been seen on the set of Revenge yet this season. Mann talks about how the structure of the first part of season 2 will be similar to the format of the first half of season 1. He also gives some scoop on Emily's love life and Nolan's friendship with Jack. Here's an excerpt from the article where Gabriel Mann talks about how Madeleine Stowe hasn't been seen on the set of Revenge yet this season:

"We don't know much at this point," Mann said. "I'm friends with Madeline, but she's not saying anything. She hasn't been around; we haven't seen her. That's about as much as we know at this point. It will definitely change the dynamic of the show if she isn't actively involved in the Revenge-y things going on. But [creator] Mike Kelley is the mayor of Flashback City."

Say it ain't so! Something tells us the matriarch of the Grayson family will somehow survive the season finale's fiery plane crash, but no one's talking. And though Allen wouldn't tell us exactly how Charlotte will fare after her suicide attempt, the fact that she alluded to some kind of future for her character makes it pretty obvious that Charlotte will survive. "Well, I'm around," she teased. "It could be a coma." Thankfully, people can come out of comas, and Allen said that Charlotte will have some serious Grayson family problems to tackle. "She's still struggles a bit," Allen said. "But [her plot] spirals into her family, and how they treat her. I think she's going to end up on a good path, but she's going to have more obstacles to deal with beyond her own demons."

*****Note: The person who wrote this article for Hollywood.com misspelled Madeleine, so I changed it to the correct spelling in the title of this post, but I didn't change it to the correct spelling in the excerpt from the article. I have no idea how the person who wrote this article didn't catch that.****

Link to the full article:'Revenge' Season 2: Charlotte is Back, Daniel Has a New Lady... But Where is Madeline Stowe? | Hollywood.com

My thoughts: It wasn't until this week that I started to realize how odd it is that there haven't been any spoilers for season 2 released that involve Victoria, and it started to make me worry that perhaps the writers were planning to have Victoria die in the plane explosion that happened in the season 1 finale. Reading this article has really made me worry that might indeed the case. I hope to god that's not true though, because Victoria is one of my top favorite characters on the show. Madeleine Stowe and the feud between Emily and Victoria are a huge part of what's made the show so popular and successful, so killing Victoria off the show would definitely be the death of Revenge.

Criminal Minds Exclusive: Scandal‘s Bellamy Young to Return for Beth’s ‘Lovely’ Send-Off-TVLine

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, Bellamy Young (Beth) will be appearing in at least two season 8 episodes of Criminal Minds in order to wrap-up her storyline as a love interest for Agent Aaron Hotchner now that she's a series regular on ABC's Scandal. Here's an excerpt from the article where Young shares her thoughts on being able to return to Criminal Minds in order to wrap up her storyline:

Being able to wrap sweet Beth Clemmons’ storyline “is such an incredible gift, because it balances out everything I get to do on Scandal, where I’m very arch — and frequently angry” — as scorned First Lady Mellie Grant, Young tells TVLine.

Young says her Criminal Minds run, which began last December, was “amazing” in that she had to win over a fan base that, in part, wanted the character of Hotch to pair up with colleague Emily Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster). Some viewers, though, reacted to the storyline by saying, “‘Oh, Hotch is so much happier now!’” the actress related. “‘Beth has come into his life, and we can see his family life and the other sides of him.’

“It’s been nice for them and me to see that glimmer in his eye,” she says of the widower’s new chance at romance, “and see a smile once in a while.”

Though Young says it will be “terrible” to ultimately bid Minds a final farewell, she’s happy to have any chance at some closure.

“I was afraid that I wouldn’t get to say goodbye, so I was so thrilled that [Scandal showrunner] Shonda [Rhimes], bless her heart, let me do a few more shows over [on the CBS procedural],” the Dirty Sexy Money alumna shares. “I just got the [season premiere] script and the storyline is lovely and warm and positive…. I can’t want to see where it goes!”

Criminal Minds kicks off Season 8 on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Scandal premieres its sophomore run on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Link to the full article:Criminal Minds Exclusive: Scandal‘s Bellamy Young to Return for Beth’s ‘Lovely’ Send-Off - TVLine

My thoughts: Honestly, I personally wasn't really a fan of the character Beth or her relationship with Hotch, so I'm not really all that sad to see Bellamy Young go. I liked Young on Dirty Sexy Money and I like her a little bit on Scandal,  but I don't love her character on Scandal. In terms of Bellamy Young being written off Criminal Minds, while I wasn't really a fan of the character Beth, I'm happy for anyone who's a fan of the character Beth, and Hotch's relationship with Beth that Bellamy Young is able to return to Criminal Minds for a few episodes in order to wrap things up. I always hate it when an actor who was a guest-star love interest on a show gets cast on another TV show or in a movie and they aren't able to wrap up the storyline onscreen, forcing the writers to explain through dialogue that they aren't together anymore.

Grey's Anatomy's Shonda Rhimes Talks Season 9: Time Jumps, New Locations and New Docs-Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

Here's an interview that TVGuides's Natalie Abrams did with the creator of Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes. In the interview, Rhimes talks about how the structure of the show will be different in season 9 from the structure of the show in the previous seasons, how the aftermath of the plane crash will affect various characters on the show, what will be happening with the various relationships on the show next season, and she also talks about how the character April will fit into the show given the fact that she failed her boards last season. Here's an excerpt from the article where Rhimes talks about what the structure of the show will be like in season 9:

You left the doctors in the woods without rescue! Will there be a time jump next season or are you picking up right where you left off?
Shonda Rhimes:
We're doing something really interesting that we've never really done before. As you know, I try to reinvent every season. When we start the season, we're two to three months in the future and we're well settled into the year for these doctors. We're watching them do what they're going to do. They're located where they're going to be located, things are happening. You see the aftermath of what happened. You're left with some questions as to how this happened and "Why is this the way it is?" and "Why is that the way it is?" Then, in the second episode of the season, we start back in the woods. We go from there and you see what happens. Then ensuing episodes, you're back to regular time and we're back on our timeline.

What can you talk about in regards to the structure of this season? At the end of last season, the doctors planned to take jobs elsewhere, so are we seeing a show that's just set at Seattle Grace or are we seeing a show that is set at many hospitals?
Rhimes:
We're seeing a show set at Seattle Grace and someplace else. What's interesting to me is that I didn't want us to feel like you're coming back and magically everyone is back home. You understand why some people stayed and why some people left. There are some very clear reasons what happened. It's very challenging playing an entirely separate story line in another location.

Can you tell us where this location is?
Rhimes:
I don't want to say where the location is because that would be too spoilery. It's a hospital. When we come back at the beginning of the season, some of our doctors are in different locations, more than one of them, and some of our doctors are preparing to leave for different locations.

Link to the full article:Grey's Anatomy's Shonda Rhimes Talks Season 9: Time Jumps, New Locations and New Docs - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

My thoughts: Based on what Shonda Rhimes said about what the structure of show is going to be like in season 9, I personally think it sounds like a very interesting direction to take Grey's Anatomy in next season. When a show has been on the air for as long as Grey's Anatomy has been, I think it's really important for the writers of a show to be willing to reinvent the show every once and a while. I've been really anxious to see how April will fit into the show given the fact that Sarah Drew is returning for season 9 after April failed her boards last season. I think that Rhimes' explanation of how April will be sticking around sounds rather vague, and yet I'm very intrigued to see what exactly she's talking about and how the writers will handle that. Season 9 of Grey's Anatomy can't start quickly enough for my taste.

Modern Family: Cast Close Deals For Salary Increases-Deadline.com

According to Deadline Hollywood's Nellie Andreeva and multiple other sources, the cast of Modern Family's salary dispute has been resolved and they have signed new contracts with the show. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on the terms of the cast's new contracts:

The conclusion comes after a big meeting with all parties after the rescheduled table read yesterday, in which 20th TV presented the actors with a new offer, higher than the $150,000 an episode for Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara, which the quintet rejected on Sunday. (The had been originally seeking $200,000 an episode, up from the $65,000 an episode each of them made most recently.) I hear the final salary is in the $170,000-180,000 an episode range for this coming season, with bigger year-to-year increases than the previously offered and a small piece of the series’ lucrative back-end. Ed O’Neill, who was at a little over $100,000 an episode and already had back-end participation, negotiated separately but joined his colleagues in their lawsuit out of solidarity.

My thoughts: I wasn't too worried about this situation at first, but I have to admit that I did start to worry about the cast's contract dispute after they filed a lawsuit against the studio and the first table read was canceled. Given the fact that the show has been a big success, I can't say that I entirely blame the cast for wanting to receive raises. I just wish the whole situation hadn't gotten so ugly to begin with, but the good news is that the situation was resolved pretty quickly, and it won't affect the show's production any further.

American Horror Story Exclusive: Bourne Actress Franka Potente Joins Season 2 Cast as [Spoiler]-TVLine

Franka Potente American Horror Story

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Franka Potente will be guest-starring in two episodes of the second season of American Horror Story. Here's an excerpt from the article:

The Run Lola Run actress — who appeared opposite Matt Damon in the first two Bourne flicks — will play a mysterious patient of the facility in a two-episode arc.

As previously reported, Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated FX series will take place in a 1960s insane asylum on the East Coast. Jessica Lange will play a nun who’s in charge of the facility, and her Season 1 castmates Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe will return to portray completely new characters, as well.

Potente, who will next star in BBC’s America’s first original series Copper, is the latest in a slew of cast additions that includes Chloe Sevigny, Lizzie Brocheré, Joseph Fiennes, James Cromwell, Britne Oldford, Mark Consuelos, Clea Duvall, Jenna Dewan and Chris Zylka.

The new season is set to premiere in October.

My thoughts: I loved Franka Potente in The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, so I'm really excited that she'll be guest-starring in season 2 of American Horror Story. The more I hear about season 2, the more excited I am for season 2 to start. Based on all of the casting news that's been announced so far for season 2, I think the second season of American Horror Story is going to be awesome. :)

The Killing: Cancelled by AMC-TVLine

the killing cancelled

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, AMC has canceled The Killing after two seasons. Here's an excerpt from the article:

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season,” said the network in a statement. “AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

The series, based on a Danish TV whodunit called Forbrydelsen, debuted to critical acclaim. The first season earned Emmy nominations for stars Mireille Enos, who played a detective investigating Rosie’s killing, and Michelle Forbes, who portrayed the dead girl’s mother. But when the Season 1 finale came and went without any resolution to the murder mystery, fans and critics alike made their displeasure known – and the drama never recovered.

The show’s Season 2 finale drew 1.5 million viewers, down 17 percent from the premiere and down 35 percent from the final episode of its freshman year. Critical support, too, seriously dropped in the second season. (At least we found out who killed Rosie.)

Link to the full article:The Killing Cancelled -- AMC - TVLine

My thoughts: Despite the fact that I did like The Killing, I'm honestly not really upset at all about the fact that it has been canceled, because at least the viewers were able to find out who killed Rosie before it was canceled. Plus, while I enjoyed watching the show it wasn't exactly high quality TV, if you ask me. I feel like Veena Sud shot the show in the foot so to speak when she decided to not reveal who killed Rosie Larsen in the first season and waited until the season 2 finale to reveal the identity of Rosie's killer. Hopefully, Veena Sud will learn from working on The Killing that she shouldn't string viewers along for two whole seasons before she delivers the big pay-off of a storyline. Also, I hope that she'll also learn to do a better job of developing the characters on her shows if she ever creates another TV series in the future.

Scandal: Season 2 Casting News-TVLine

Scandal Gregg Henry

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Gregg Henry and Jillian Armenante have been cast in recurring guest-star roles for season 2 of Scandal. Here's an excerpt the article, which gives some details on Henry and Armenante's roles:

Gilmore Girls/Hung alum Gregg Henry — who can currently be seen on ABC’s Bunheads — joins the series’ sophomore run as Jackson, a wealthy Southerner who’s harmless… until you cross him. Jillian Armenante (Judging Amy), meanwhile, has been tapped to play a woman named Lucas who is described as “smart, well-spoken and brash.”

Deadine first reported the castings.

Other changes ahead in Scandal‘s second season (which bows Sept. 27) include the exit of Henry Ian Cusick and a series regular bump for Joshua Malina.

My thoughts: It's been a long time since I've watched Gilmore Girls and Hung, so I can't remember what I think of Gregg Henry as an actor. I've never heard of Jillian Armenante before, but both of their characters sound really interesting, so I'm looking forward to seeing them on Scandal. Scandal is a really great show, so if you're not already watching it, then you should definitely check it out.

Here's some scoop on Raising Hope from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Raising Hope | Are Jimmy and Sabrina heading for a wedding? Lucas Neff told me that amidst all sorts of “traumatic things happening in the Chance household” during Season 3 – including some packed into a two-part October episode – there specifically are “some changes for Jimmy – a big life step is about to happen for him that I’m very excited about.” So, is Jimmy going to pop the question…? “I can’t speak to that,” Neff deflected with a wide grin. “I’m just saying, ‘Tune in Tuesdays at 8/7 Central, on Fox’!”

Parenthood: Julia and Joel related scoop on season 4 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Parenthood from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Parenthood | Remember how Season 3 ended, way, way back in February, with Julia and Joel welcoming to their home, no, not Zoe’s newborn but the 9-year-old son of a freshly incarcerated woman? Yeah, that’s likely to shake up their household, and in unanticipated ways. “I have no doubt it’s going to cause a rift with our daughter,” Sam Jaeger ventures – if only because Sydney was expecting to be a doting big sister. “I think the drama’s going to come a bit from having two kids the same age.” Plus, the new arrival may not be as accepting of his new stead as some benign baby would be, and that in turn could put his new ‘rents on guard. “Joel has always been a constant, but I would imagine if I had a 9-year-old son that wasn’t ready to be my son, that’d be a difficult situation to navigate,” Jaeger offers. “This kid has got to be pretty defiant.”

Once Upon a Time: Mary Margaret, David and Emma related scoop and casting related scoop on episode 2x04 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Once Upon a Time from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Once Upon a Time | As predicted by Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, the Charming family reunion might not exactly be all hugs. As EP Eddy Kitsis explains, “Emma is a character who her entire life wanted to meet her parents — and now she’s met them. But this isn’t exactly how she pictured it, and that’s not an easy thing to deal with.” And getting to know their grown daughter won’t be the only thing on Mary and David’s plate, as their “happy ending” continues to prove elusive. “It would be awfully cruel to torture them continually, but in the same respect, there’s drama in every relationship,” EP Adam Horowitz previews. That said, “The drama that they experienced in Season 1 is not the same drama that we want to put them through in Season 2. We want to take that relationship in a new [direction].” P.S. On the casting front, watch for Episode 4 to feature a shady fairytale land denizen who is involved in the backroom bartering of “unusual antiquities.”

Covert Affairs: Auggie related scoop from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Covert Affairs | Auggie may have survived pirates this week, but the next three episodes just may get the best of him. “He’s not an addict, but to can use that terminology, you see him hit bottom,” Christopher Gorham told us. “You see Auggie go to a place you know he would never want to be and certainly would not want anyone ever to see him at.” That dire downturn is what will lead him to the couch of CIA shrink Dr. Suzanne Wilkins (played by One Tree Hill alum Daniella Alonso). The straw that breaks Auggie’s proverbial back? “It is very personal,” Gorham hints.

Alphas: Scoop on episode 2x04 "When Push Comes to Shove" and scoop on Sean Astin's guest arc from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Alphas from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Alphas | Lord of the Rings vet Sean Astin’s two-episode arc doesn’t arrive until October, but according to Laura Mennell, it will be worth the wait. In fact, his Alpha is among her favorite newbies of the season. “Sean has a really cool character, one who has the ability to be able to retain the memories of other people,” Nina’s portrayer shares. “When I started reading that script, I was like, ‘Oh wow!’ And he’s such a phenomenal actor, so… it’ll be exciting to see what he does.” Mennell also sings the praises of Katie Douglas, the ingenue who plays Young Nina in Episode 4. “Azita [Ghanizada, Rachel] was like, ‘Why aren’t you playing teenage Nina?’ But when I saw the girl they cast, I saw why. She basically looks 13, so that might have been a stretch for me!”

Breaking Bad: Scoop on the final season from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Breaking Bad from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Breaking Bad | If you wondered if DEA agent Merkert’s lament – that Gus Fring “was somebody else completely … right under my nose” – put a bug in Hank’s ear and might put him back on Heisenberg’s (aka Walt’s) trail, you’d probably be right. As the acclaimed AMC drama unspools its final season, “We are not going to shy away from that confrontation,” Dean Norris, who plays Hank, assures. After all, with Gus gone and Walt and Jesse seemingly free to reign as meth kings, “That’s the only conflict left, and they’ve been setting it up for four years. How that plays out we can’t say,” Norris hedges, “but it’s gonna happen.”

Happy Endings: Brad, Jane and Max related scoop on season 3 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Happy Endings from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich's weekly column Matt's Inside Line for the week of 7/27/12.

Happy Endings | New (and neutered) careers will be a theme in Season 3 of this ABC com, according to exec producer Jonathan Groff. For one, he says, “We’re going to see more of Jane at work” — including, TVLine hears, her gig a Volkswagen dealership. (The show’s dream get to play her boss? Dan Aykroyd.) Brad, as you recall, was laid off in the April finale, “So we’re going to see how he bounces back from that… or doesn’t,” says Groff. “He’s going to have trouble with both working and not working.” In fact, in an act of desperation (or more likely giddy distraction), Brad may join one of his buds in his own new job. “In addition to the limo, Max will dabble in the world of bar mitzvah hype,” Groff shares, “being one of those guys who ‘gets the party started.’”
