Defiance: James Murray Cast as New Mayor in Season 2-TVLine

Defiance Season 2 Cast James Murray

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, James Murray has joined the cast of Defiance in a series regular role of Niles Pottinger for season 2. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on Murray's role:

Hailing from the UK (which was devastated during the Pale Wars), Niles is appointed Defiance’s provisional mayor by E-Rep — probably because Datak has either gone on the lam after killing the military conglom’s Colonel Marsh, or because he gets caught.

Niles is described as a man who has transcended his working class roots to appreciate the finer things in life — all while exhibiting a rock star’s charisma. And the next “finer thing” he obsessively sets his sights on is none other than ex-mayor Amanda (played by Julie Benz). Smart man.

Defiance is set to launch its 13-episode sophomore run in June 2014.

ABC Family Renews Switched At Birth, Orders Additional Episodes of The Fosters and Twisted-TVLine

switched-at-birth-300

According to TVLine's Rebecca Iannucci, ABC Family has renewed Switched at Birth for a third season. The network has also ordered additional episodes of The Fosters and Twisted. Here's an excerpt from the article, which includes a statement regarding Switched at Birth's renewal from ABC Family's Vice President of original programming, Kate Juergens:

Birth, which is nearing the end of its second season, is “like no other show on television and we are so proud to have it as part of our family,” Kate Juergens, executive VP of original programming and development at ABC Family, said in a statement. “Adding additional seasons and episodes of our returning series spotlights how well our programming resonates with our audience.”

My thoughts: I haven't watched Switched at Birth in a long time, but I really liked what I have seen of the show, so I'm glad that it has been renewed for another season. Switched at Birth's ratings have been pretty good this season, so I'm not surprised by this news. I'm also not surprised that the network has ordered more episodes of The Fosters either since the show's ratings are constantly improving. The Fosters has become one of my favorite new TV shows, so I'm beyond excited that the network has ordered more episodes of the show. I can't wait to see what the producers of The Fosters have planned for the next batch of episodes. I haven't watched Twisted yet, but I'm happy for the people who do like the show that the network has ordered more episodes of that show as well.

How I Met Your Mother: Scoop on returning guest-stars and more on season 9 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on How I Met Your Mother from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: What’s new on the How I Met Your Mother front? —Dave
Ausiello: Three more (mostly uninvited) guests have RSVP’d for Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend, and they include Knight Templar, a spooky fella (think Grail Knight from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) who passes judgement on pretty much everyone and everything; Robin’s horny old college roommate Sophia, who shows up at the wedding in heat; and Grace, Barney’s new assistant who’s hot, personable and dumb. BONUS SCOOP:  For those keeping track at home, the title of Episode 5 is “The Poker Game,” Episode 6 is  ”No Questions Asked” and Episode 7 is “Knight Vision.”

In an upcoming episode titled “Need to Know,” the cast of an early-’90s sitcom called 2 Cool For School is reassembling for a new movie when — egad! — its version of Screech is offed! (This never would’ve happened on Miss Bliss’ watch! Just sayin’… )

The Carrie Diaries: Samantha related casting scoop on season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Carrie Diaries from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I’m very excited about the arrival of Samantha on The Carrie Diaries. Anything you can share regarding her storyline? –Joyce
Ausiello: How about deets on her first conquest? The show’s producers are currently casting the role of Paul Haltom, “a genuine and kind Midwesterner who performs as a ninja at a Japanese Cultural Festival.” A grad of the Iowa State Gymnastics team, brown-eyed, twentysomething Paul moved to New York City to be an actor, and ends up sleeping with the young Samantha (played by newcomer Lindsey Gort). In the meantime, I’ll be taking bets about whether the legendary Ms. Jones drops a double-entendre featuring the term “corn-fed” or “katana.” Look for the Samantha-Paul cahoots to happen in Episode 3.

As fellow EP Jennifer Levin elaborates, “We saw that he was shot to pieces [in the finale], so if he’s back, that would affect his point of view on life. He could be ‘born again.’”

Criminal Minds: JJ, Garcia and Hotch related scoop on season 9 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Criminal Minds from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I’ve been wondering what the people at Criminal Minds have in store for Hotch next season. For example, will we find out more about his past? –Rachel
Ausiello: At this point early into the Season 9 writing process, showrunner Erica Messer says, no new backstories are on tap for any of the characters outside of JJ, but that could quickly change when the actors get invited to weigh in on what they’d like to see. (That dialogue between cast and scribes is how Garcia came to play the ukelele in one episode last year.) But this much known about Hotch as the show returns: He’s been filling in as section chief for a few months, and yes, he’s still with Beth.

Ausiello: At some point during the upcoming Season 5, Eric Christian Olsen assures, “You’re going to meet his mom and get into his past” — which as any fan knows wasn’t idyllic. “We already know a little about the dysfunctional and catastrophic relationship with his father, but we’re going to find out a lot more about what makes this guy tick and how it affects, obviously, the relationship with Kensi and his inability to make that work.”

Here's some scoop on The Good Wife from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any scoop on the upcoming plot lines involving returning Good Wife guests America Ferrera and Gary Cole? —Beth
Ausiello: Cole’s McVeigh and Christine Baranski’s Diane are “still on the brink of getting married,” reveals exec producer Robert King. “So we’ll see if Diane will sacrifice [that relationship] for the judgeship or go with him.” Ferrera’s Natalie, meanwhile, “brings a case to Alicia’s law firm about immigration, and who should cross paths with her but [former crush] Eli. So all these feelings are brought up again and we see a re-sparked relationship. There was a lot of chemistry there. And we never felt like we explored it to its fullest because we couldn’t get America for more than three episodes; we’re going to try to return to that now.”

Question: Is The Good Wife really naming Ben Rappaort’s character Carey? Even with the extra “e” I have to imagine there will be plenty of confusion. —Michelle
Ausiello: Turns out, that’s the point. “That confusion helps us on one or two plot points,” notes King of Rappaport’s “Carey with an ey” and Matt Czuchry’s Cary.  ”The very fact that they have the same name and they’re young men adds an [interesting] dynamic between them and Alicia [at Florrick Agos & Associates*]. Triangles are difficult, because there’s always a power between two people and someone is left out. So who’s going to be the person left out?”

Glee: More scoop on the first two episodes of season 5 and casting related scoop from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Glee from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I’m sure you’re getting a ton of these emails, but I’m so heartbroken about Cory Monteith’s passing. Any more info on what the initial Season 5 episodes of Glee will look like? –Ellen
Ausiello: No doubt, Ryan Murphy and the show’s cast and crew have a difficult road ahead, as they navigate their own grief while trying to pay tribute to their fallen colleague — and still produce an entertaining season of television. The Glee writing team had already penned the first two Season 5 installments — built around the music of the Beatles — back in May, which gives everyone a leg up in advance of the Sept. 26 kickoff.  And to that end, the show is casting five roles (to either replace or augment the three parts we told you about earlier this month) for the premiere, only one of which calls for a young actor. (Hrmmm.) The lineup of new characters — the first three of which are recurring — includes: Roderick Easton, a talented, theatrical fortysomething with a big ego; Jim Elliott, a handsome, smart academic in his mid-40s or 50s; Jurgen, another fella in his mid-40s or 50s, who’s either German or Austrian, with a definite accent; an unidentified, not-gender-specific, fortysomething “School Board Member”; and finally, “Nerdy Girl,” age 18 or thereabouts, who’ll likely wind up in the halls of William McKinley High (albeit with only a single line of dialogue). After Beatlemania hits the Glee-verse, expect one more episode — a tribute to fallen Finn — before the show takes its fall hiatus.

The Mentalist: Scoop on the future of Jane and Lisbon's relationship in season 6 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Mentalist from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: What’s going to happen with my favorite (almost) couple Jane and Lisbon on this season of The Mentalist? —Bethany
Ausiello: The conclusion of the Red John mystery later this fall will have a profound impact on their relationship — for better or worse. “Up until now, they’ve been tied by this professional dynamic and this mission they’re on,” notes series creator Bruno Heller. “And that held their personal relationship in suspense. Once the Red John saga is done, how do they find a new way to relate to each other? The chemistry has always been there bubbling up. But he now has other priorities and other agendas and other pressures.” The arrival of a major new female character — a series regular! — in early 2014 will serve as an added complication. “When you’re as good a detective as Jane is, it’s very hard to walk away even when you want to walk away,” Heller teases, cryptically. “Some people wont let Jane walk away from what he’s so good at. And our new female lead has something to do with that.”

Nashville: More casting related scoop on season 2 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Nashville from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I need some fall Nashville scoop. – Titan
Ausiello: Well, when you ask in such a polite fashion, how can I say no? A new thirtysomething character, Trey, is going to be hot, rich, charming, confident, self-deprecating and European — which narrows his romantic pool to Juliette, Scarlett, Zoey, Will or anyone with a pulse.

Grey's Anatomy: Meredith related scoop on the season 10 premiere and casting related scoop on season 10 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Grey's Anatomy from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Do you have any Grey’s Anatomy spoilers about Derek and Meredith? —Toni
Ausiello: The two-hour Season 10 premiere will delve into the “aftermath” of Mer’s turbulent delivery, teases Grey’s consulting producer (and Scandal Emmy nominee) Dan Bucatinsky. “She had a rough birth. We’re going to see them in the hospital together and juggling their roles in a major way.” The super-sized Sept. 26 kickoff is alternately “dramatic, emotional and exciting,” the actor-writer-producer adds. “Also, we’re going to watch these new interns become part of the fabric of the hospital. That’s going to be part of what’s fun and fresh about this season. We’re going to get to know them better.”

Question: Please tell me if you have any Grey’s Anatomy news on Christina/Owen. They seriously need to be over and done with. It’s time for them to move on for good. —Abdul
Ausiello: How do you really feel Paula (that is your first name, right?). Sadly, I have no news for you on “Crowen,” unless the new recurring character the show is adding figures into their fractured relationship somehow. The newbie, Bill, is a likable jazz musician in his 50s who has been “somewhat ravaged by drug abuse.” He’s slated to appear in roughly five episodes of Season 10.

NCIS: Scoop on Cote de Pablo/Ziva's exit from the show and more on season 11 from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on NCIS from this week's (Posted on 7/30/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Any news on a replacement for Ziva on NCIS? —Cathy
Ausiello: Yep, and pretty big news at that. As exec producer Gary Glasberg revealed to Matt Mitovich Monday night, it’s going to be “a little while” before a full-time agent is brought in to fill the void left by Cote de Pablo. But in the meantime, the show — taking a page from Bones‘ squintern playbook — will “rotate some fun people” through the agency’s doors. “The first two episodes are all about Ziva’s departure,” Glasberg notes. “And then in the third episode we introduce, for instance, a woman in her 50s who is a few days away from retirement and just needs to fill the desk time. She, in theory, knew Gibbs all the way back to the days of Mike Franks. So we’re going to bring in people like that and have some fun with different characters. And then, hopefully, when people are comfortable enough, one will walk in and be The One.”

Under the Dome: CBS Drama Renewed for Second Season-TVLine

Under the Dome Trailer

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, CBS has renewed Under the Dome for a second season. The second season will consist of 13 episodes and is currently scheduled to air in Summer 2014. Here's an excerpt from the article, which gives some details on the show's renewal:

“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill,” CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said in a statement Monday, “and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season.”

A small-screen adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Dome premiered to 13.5 million total viewers with a 3.3 demo rating, and and at last tally had amassed 20 million with a 4.6 rating, with DVR data and non-linear playback factored in.

The 13-episode freshman drama’s most recent episode drew 11.4 mil and a 2.8 in Live+Same Day ratings.

My thoughts: I was getting ready to move around the time Under the Dome first premiered, so I've only seen the first episode at this point. That being said, I absolutely loved the first episode, so I'm definitely planning on getting caught up by watching the show on Amazon Prime's Instant Streaming player. I'm also currently reading the book, and I think the book is really great so far. I definitely recommend reading the book if you haven't already.

One last thing that I'd like to say regarding Under the Dome's season 2 renewal is that I honestly wasn't expecting the show's ratings to be as high as they have been. When CBS announced that Under the Dome would be airing during the summer, I pretty much instantly assumed that the show would be D.O.A. or that if it did manage to get decent ratings for a TV show airing on a TV channel that's not a cable network that the show would quickly crash and burn. I'm beyond thrilled that I was wrong though since I loved the first episode, and it's great to know that the show will be back for a second season.

Star Trek: Enterprise-I miss this show so much

I don’t know why, but I’ve really been getting back into Star Trek lately. Perhaps it’s partially due to Star Trek Into Darkness being released in theaters. Anyway, I’ve been watching a lot of Star Trek: Voyager episodes again for the first time in years, and I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing with Star Trek: Enterprise.

I know that there are a lot of people who have issues with Star Trek: Enterprise and how it messed with the continuity and history of the franchise, but I for one really liked it. It was really interesting to see what Starfleet was like in its early days before they had fairly advanced ships and technology and before they had all the rules and regulations that frequently came into play in the previous TV series, such as the Prime Directive.

I love pretty much all of the characters on the show with the possible exception of Travis Mayweather. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the character Travis. It’s just that he has never really stood out to me like the rest of the characters on the show did.

It’s such a shame that the show was canceled when it was. Personally, I thought season 4 was pretty good. The final episode was far from great due to the fact that it focused a lot on Counselor Troi and Commander Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation instead of the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise, but the series finale could have been a lot worse, if you ask me. I definitely think I’ll watch some episodes of Star Trek; Enterprise again in the near future.

Hart of Dixie: Kaitlyn Black Promoted to Series Regular Status in Season 3-TVLine

Hart of Dixie Cast Kaitlyn Black

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, Kaitlyn Black has been promoted to series regular status for Hart of Dixie's upcoming third season. Here's an excerpt from the article, which includes a statement from Black regarding her promotion:

“I’m overjoyed to be joining such a talented cast and extremely grateful to be part of the CW family,” the actress tells TVLine of her status bump.

Black has recurred on the CW charmer since early Season 1.

As Dixie creator Leila Gerstein explains it, promoting Black for the upcoming run was a no-brainer. “Kaitlyn started off with one line, and we fell in love with her,” the showrunner gushes. “Her part has grown and grown as the writing staff has become more enraptured with Annabeth (and Kaitlyn). And, at this point, she has become so integral to the series — as Lemon’s best friend, as Lavon’s girlfriend, and as Zoe’s confidante — that we needed to make sure she was all ours!”

But prepare yourselves, Dixie fans: This full-time Annabeth comes with some major alterations. “She’s becoming a lesbian, a vampire and a murderer,” Gerstein jokes. “And she may start her own jam business. Some of these may be true. You have to watch to see.”

Dixie returns for Season 3 on Monday, Oct. 7 at 8/7c.

Just got done watching Breckin Meyer on The Talk

I just got done watching Breckin Meyer on The Talk, and I have to say, he’s a really sweet, funny guy. I love him on Franklin & Bash, which is an extremely underrated TV show, if you ask me me. I don’t watch The Talk very often, but I’m so glad that I happened to catch Breckin’s appearance on the show. It was really fun watching him interact with all the women on the show. Breckin really is a truly sweet, funny guy, who’s also incredibly cute if you ask me. It’s no surprise that I’ve had a crush on him ever since he was in the movie Clueless. :)

Jesse Metcalfe on TNT’s Dallas

I’m currently in the process of watching the entire second season of TNT’s Dallas again, so I can write a review of the season. I absolutely love that show, but the most painful part of watching it is seeing Jesse Metcalfe’s pathetic attempts at acting on the show. Jesse is definitely the worst actor on the show, and his character, Christopher Ewing, is without a doubt the most annoying and unlikable character on the show as well. The bright side of this whole situation is that Jesse Metcalfe’s horrific acting and Christopher’s endlessly obnoxious behavior will provide me with a goldmine of material when it comes time to write my review and rant about Jesse/Christopher.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Scoop from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

Sandra, I was lucky enough to see the SHIELD pilot at Comic-Con. Holy cow! PLEASE tell me you have something on episode 2. — John
Well, I’ll wait until everyone’s has seen the pilot to dive deep into the awesomeness of SHIELD, but here’s what Clark Gregg had to say about what comes next: “It’s a TV show, it’s not a Marvel movie, but it’s more like a Marvel movie than any TV show I’ve ever seen, and we’re spending it all on this pilot,” he said. “And if anything, it’s bigger, wilder, more effects driven than the pilot.” And while we did see Agent Coulson get a little physical in episode 1, Gregg says there’s more action-packed scenes to come. “My action has been pretty sparse in the movies — he’s kind of been like wrangling the super divas you know, like somebody managing the Green Room at Coachella.  And now he’s out in the field and there’s a lot more imminent threats, and yes, I can say safely it’s a whole new level of combat for Agent Coulson.”

Scandal!!!! — Tessa
Recent Emmy nominee Dan Bucatinsky was mum on the details of season 3 but promised “more of that sort of jaw-dropping, heart-pounding drama.” “There are twists and turns that you just can’t believe. Characters continue to behave in ways and do things that will surprise people, even when you thought you’ve seen it all,” he says. A hint lies in a tiny casting nugget: Why is the show looking for someone to play a prostitute? And, more importantly, why is she sharing a scene with David Rosen (!!)?

Here's some scoop on The Killing from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

Sandra, I can’t tell you how sad I am that Bullet is dead on The Killing. Like, still weeping. Any scoop on what comes next? — Rae
Well, for Peter Sarsgaard’s death row inmate Seward, the future is definitely murky. And the actor tells us that the anxiety is definitely overwhelming his character as we approach the final episodes. “Probably right now in the show he’s not sure whether he wants to live or die. The thing is with that character is whether or not he’s innocent or guilty, he believes he’s guilty fundamentally in his soul, and I think that he has a lot of distance and hatred toward the rest of the world because of his position in it,” he says. “And I think the only person who’s been able to reach him is Mirelle’s character. So that’s his only connection in the whole world at the moment and he’s just hoping that she’ll show up.”

Sons of Anarchy: Scoop on season 6 from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Sons of Anarchy from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

Any fresh info on Sons? — Josh
Well, the new VP was revealed during this week’s Comic-Con panel (Congrats Chibs!), but while chatting with Charlie Hunnam earlier in the week, he teased that five episodes into filming the sixth season, he’s seeing the end of the line. (It’s been well publicized that the show is likely to finish up for good after season 7.) “Unfortunately, as much as it breaks my heart to say it, we are starting into the third act. We got to wrap this thing up. I’m really really nervous and I have anxiety already about having to take that cut off and say goodbye to Jax,” he said. “This has been far and away the deepest creative experience of my life. But we’re going to go out strong though. It’s Hamlet and the third act of Hamlet is pretty exciting. There’s going to be a reckoning and bodies are going to start dropping.” Is it Sept. 10 yet?

Hart of Dixie: George related scoop on season 3 from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Hart of Dixie from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

Thank you team EW for all the Comic-Con coverage! But I’m surprised no one asked Scott or Rachel (who were there for the To Do List) for Hart of Dixie scoop! HELP!! — Dana
Got you covered there. We caught up with Porter on the red carpet at the movie’s premiere, and he reported that George will be MIA for a while at the beginning of this season! Ok, it’s only 20 minutes, but I’ll let him explain: “I moved away from town a little bit, people can’t find me and the town is in desperate need of a lawyer so they go searching for me,” he says. On the romantic front, Porter says that the show is going to “cool it” on the love triangle for a little bit, in hopes it will give “the fans a breather for a second.”

Falling Skies: Scoop on season 4 from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Falling Skies from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

Any Falling Skies scoop? — Vicky
Can you have too much of a good thing? Nope! And luckily, TNT feels the same way. I have confirmed that Falling Skies fourth season will consist of 12 episodes — if you’re keeping track, that’s two more than its usual order. Good news for us, possibly bad news for the likely exhausted Tom and Co. Speaking of the gang, Noah Wyle promises that while there will be a few hanging storylines that people have to tune in next year to see, he says, “I’m very happy that we tie up a lot of storylines this season.” “All the plotlines that are laid down get answered — we now know who the mole is, we’re going to find that out and deal with that, we’ve got this Espheni grid that’s irradiating the Earth and a ticking clock on taking it out, we’re going to take it out, and we’ve got this evil Overlord in the body of a 22-year-old surfer chick that we need to deal with. So all of that stuff gets wrapped up in the last two episodes,” he said.

“Katherine is actually going to be one of the main people this season — one of the main characters,” reports EP Caroline Dries. “So she’s going to be intertwined in their lives — not that they want her there. But she’s actually going to need them more than they need her.” Watch more of your questions get answered here!

Suits: Scoop on the future of Mike and Rachel's relationship from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Suits from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

‘SUITS’ ALMOST STAGED A BIG BREAK-UP

The new relationship between law firm associate Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) and paralegal Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) may get rocky on Suits, but it is here to stay – at least for the length of the USA drama’s summer run. But it wasn’t always that way.

“They were planning on breaking us up at episode 10,” Markle reveals. “I know that it has now been completely restructured and re-conceived because they are enjoying Mike and Rachel as a couple too much. They don’t want to do it.”

The decision is one she definitely supports. “It’s really kind of cool and sweet to just not have to keep slapping him,” she jokes. But on a serious note, she adds, “Because the show is doing so well, and we’re so lucky — you can see that we probably have a few more seasons in us — the idea of ‘will-they-won’t-they, will-they-won’t-they, okay, they will, but only for 10 episodes and then it’s going to go away’ felt like then where do you go from that? If it took us two seasons to try to figure out if we could make it work, then maybe they take that time and really give us an opportunity to have something. Just like with any character, with any relationship that you have onscreen, when you can settle into it a bit more, you get to find what’s interesting about it, find layers and nuances. So I’m really happy that they’re really happy with it.” – Mandi Bierly

Supernatural: Crowley, Dean and Castiel related scoop and scoop on the possibility of Jensen Ackles directing an episode in season 9 from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Supernatural from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

‘SUPERNATURAL’: SCOOP-A-PALOOZA

In addition to what was dolled out during the Supernatural panel, this year’s press room was a wonderful flood of scooplets. Here, I pull out some highlights:

+ CROWLEY = CURED? – Mark Sheppard scooped to me during our chat on the EW Comic-Con couch that Crowley was most certainly going to struggle with certain side effects from almost being cured at the end of last season, but, he maintains, Sam and Dean “did not cure him.” “I mean, as far as the canon is concerned, if you don’t complete the task then it hasn’t happened. I’d be more interested to see…if there is any residual effects.”

+ DEAN’S SECRET– So, Dean’s got a secret. Exactly what it is, we’re not sure. Neither is Jensen Ackles, but, he teases, it’s “one of the bigger issues of the series.” “So it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out,” he says. Jared Padalecki teased a little further: “ It does really heavily involve Sam, and even has a lot to do with why Sam’s still alive. So Dean is just kind of lying to Sam.  And he’s hating it every step of the way and Sam can’t really tell,” he says. “But when Sam finds out, s–t’s going to hit the fan.”

+ WILL ACKLES DIRECT? Ackles is also waiting to hear whether or not he’ll step behind the camera to direct another episode. After directing one episode per season for the last three seasons, “I’m not directing this year — well not yet. They haven’t given me one. I usually direct the first one out of the gate, but because I have a 7-week-old daughter I opted to stay home with the newborn instead this year,” he says. But there’s still a chance he can. “There’s still a few episodes that are not slated yet with the directors and I think they’re trying to figure out how they can slide me in there storyline wise.”

+ CASTIEL’S NEW CHALLENGES – Lots of scoop on what’s coming up with powerless Cas in my chat with Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard, but Collins, who is slated to appear in more than a dozen episodes throughout this season, added on the matter: “I certainly hope that at the very least, Cas is going to change his underwear now that he’s human. But I will tease for you – this is pretty juicy stuff since we’re getting into the wardrobe, there is a Laundromat scene in episode 1. So this very question has been forefront in the writer’s minds.” As for his relationship with the boys? Ackles says, “It’ll be interesting to see how the relationship evolves given his new lack of skills.”

Covert Affairs: Scoop on episode 4x03 "Into The White" from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Covert Affairs from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 7/25/13.

‘COVERT AFFAIRS’: WILL SPARKS FLY WITH ANNIE AND TEO?
In the July 30 episode of USA’s Covert Affairs, Annie (Piper Perabo) heads back to Colombia to determine the true allegiances of Arthur’s son, Teo (Manolo Cardona), after she receives intel that the terrorist group he’s involved with is planning an attack. There are some tense scenes between Perabo and Cardona, who previously worked together on the slightly less suspenseful 2008 film Beverly Hills Chihuahua. “I can’t tell you everything that happens to him [this season], but it’s dangerous,” Perabo says, with a laugh. “He gets a lot of stunts, car crashes, and shootouts. That’s another reason I was glad they cast Manolo: I was glad to have a really brave, macho guy.”

While we’re happy Annie is finally with her handler, Auggie (Chris Gorham), we can’t help but wonder if we’ll see sparks fly with Teo. “We shot this scene recently with Teo in a foreign city,” Perabo says carefully, “and he rescued me in the middle of this fight. Both the hair and makeup girls came up to me afterward, and they said, ‘What’s gonna happen with Teo and Annie?! It all seems like it’s gonna go off!’ I went up to Manolo, and I was like, ‘All right, keep it on a simmer. You can’t put out that much heat. You’re Latin. A little is a lot!’” – Mandi Bierly

Rookie Blue: Andy, Sam and Marlo related scoop on episode 4x06 "Skeletons" from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Rookie Blue from this week's (Posted on 7/25/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

On Rookie Blue, will Marlo sharing her secret with Andy keep us from getting “McSwarek”? –Deb
As detailed in Vlada Gelman’s preview for this week’s episode, Andy and Sam already have obstacles. And Marlo’s bipolar secret sure won’t help matters. “This revelation and its repercussions will play out over the season in a way that, I hope, is dramatic for Sam and Andy and Marlo,” says EP Tassie Cameron. “In the immediate present, sharing that news with Andy — the last person she would have wanted to tell — was very, very difficult for Marlo. It’s very private, and something that can jeopardize not only her relationship but her career.” For Andy, too, “It will be a struggle, to know something about your former boyfriend’s new girlfriend like that. And part of what I hope is interesting about the next few episodes is how Andy’s handling it.”

NCIS: McGee related scoop on season 11 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Considering Cote de Pablo’s (incredibly disappointing) departure from NCIS this fall, does the show have plans to introduce another female agent (as they did when Sasha Alexander departed)? Or are they planning something very different to fill the void? –Cassaundra
While I haven’t heard anything about a replacement for Ziva per se, I do know that — as teased by NCIS boss Gary Glasberg — we will in fact be laying eyes on McGee’s new (and yet-to-be-cast) honey: Delilah, a “perky, smart, eccentric and downright lovable” computer wonk at the Department of Defense. And that role is possibly recurring.

The Walking Dead: Casting related scoop on season 4 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on The Walking Dead from this week's (Posted on 7/25/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

I’m so excited for this next season of The Walking Dead — the trailer looks so good! But I’m starting to get scared for the lives of the prisoners. Is there any word of another major character getting killed off? I don’t know who I’d spare first. Maybe Carl… –Rebecca
But… Carl just scored a glossy magazine cover! That’d be just cruel. While I can’t say if we’re due for another major death anytime soon, it’s looking like there will be warm bodies to fill any gaps. For midseason, the show is casting the recurring roles of John Tyler, a rough-around-the-edges and vulgar man with a propensity towards violence; Wayne Kesey, a gent in the 30s/40s whose book smarts are his main tools in survival; and Jordana Barraza, a Latina with a shameful past but a desire to learn right from others.

Scandal: Scoop on the season 3 premiere, more scoop on who revealed Olivia and Fitz's relationship to the media, Jake related scoop and more on season 3 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Scandal from this week's (Posted on 7/25/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

How about some juicy Scandal scoop to celebrate Kerry Washington scoring an Emmy nomination? –Miranda
Are you suggesting that in the course of congratulating Miss Emmy Nominee last week, that I pumped her for scoop? Handled! First, we batted around theories on who ratted out Liv to the press, and Washington believes Mellie is “too obvious” a culprit. (Plus, she noted, “Mellie got [Fitz] back at the end, so I don’t know why she would do that.”) Washington then relayed the cast’s excitement about Scott Foley being upped to series regular, though we both agreed it’d be a shame if Jake stayed in “the hole” all season long. On the topic of the premiere, she was skeptical that it will pick up with Olivia and her dad still in the car, saying, “I really love how the show plays with time and jumps all around, so I hope there’s some of that.” But one of the Season 3 stories that has Kerry most jazzed is this one: “Shonda [Rhimes] has teased that we are going to get more backstory on Harrison” – finally, I say – “and when I heard that, I was jumping up and down in the hair-and-makeup trailer like, ‘Yeah!’”

I was wondering if you knew how many episodes Scandal has this season? Also, are they doing what OUAT is doing with the show running? –Lizzie
Scandal as of now is working off a 22-episode order, and if the second part of your question meant to suggest “airing non-stop”-ish/in repeat-free chunks, I have nothing to report on that. Yet.

Ausiello: Not much. “We pick up very quickly from where we left off at the end of Season 1,” exec producer John Fawcett tells TVLine. “Kira has been taken. It’s very difficult to not go, ‘OK, what do we do next? Kira’s gone!’ The presumption is we have to begin right there.” Adds fellow EP Graeme Manson: “There’s no ‘Two Years Later’ and Sarah’s living a bucolic life on a farm.”

The Newsroom: Scoop on Neal's Occupy Wall Street from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Ausiello: Possibly, but not in the next two episodes. The question you should be asking, though, is: Why should I care about Neal’s silly Occupy Wall Street storyline? And the answer to that one is: It ties in (in a surprising way) to this season’s overarching “Operation Genoa” storyline.

There will be a turn of events in Ezra’s life, too, that may change his relationship with Aria. Mad Men: Peggy and Don related scoop on season 7 and more from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on Mad Men from this week's (Posted on 7/23/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: I know it’s super early, but is there anything you can tell me about the next season of Mad Men? I really want Peggy and Don to come to some kind of understanding. – Hayley
Ausiello: And I really want Megan to take a gig in a Siberian summerstock production of Waiting for Godot 2: Waiting… and Waiting… and Waiting…, but we can’t always get what we want. After all, as Elisabeth Moss tells TVLine, the end-of-the-season scene where Peggy calls her mentor a “monster” was pretty tough. “We’ve had so many arguments, Peggy and Don. We’ve been through a lot. There’s been a lot of ups and downs,” Moss says. “But that moment, to me, was her lowest with him. Whatever they’ve been through, this thing really broke her heart. She really sees him for who he is in that moment and really is incredibly disillusioned for the first time.” Which means Don probably isn’t getting a World’s Best Boss mug when the series returns for Season 7.

Question: Mad Men! Anything! Give it to me! – Derek
Ausiello: How about this? Emmy nominee Linda Cardellini was as surprised as you were about the way Bob Benson’s storyline played out. “I wouldn’t let [show creator and executive producer] Matt Weiner show me the [last two episodes] or tell me about [them],” Cardellini tells TVLine. “He invited me to the read-throughs, and I said, ‘No, I don’t want to know what happens.’” So… what did she think? “The amazing thing about it is, it all makes sense, but it was never in a million years what I would have predicted. And I thought James [Wolk] as Bob Benson – he was so great, because he did nothing but be affable and nice,” she says, laughing. “And nobody trusted him!”

Ausiello: There’s a rock-solid chance, actually. Exec producer Matt Corman tells TVLine, “It’s safe to say [Oded Fehr's spy] will return, it’s just a question as to when. And we want that to kind of be a secret.”

The Killing: Scoop on episode 3x10 "Six Minutes" from TVLine's Michael Ausiello

Here's some scoop on The Killing from this week's (Posted on 7/23/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: OK, there’s only two episodes left of The Killing‘s third season. Can you tell us if the killer is Becker, Henderson, Reddick or somebody totally out of left field? (It’s Becker, right?) —Murray
Ausiello: Oh, Murray, spilling the identity of the culprit in a serialized crime drama breaks Rule No. 2,714 of The Spoiler Code. But I can give you three clues about Sunday’s very intense “Six Minutes.” 1) All the action takes place inside the prison where Seward is awaiting his death sentence. 2) Holder shows up with a case of beer in his car. 3) The pas de deux between Linden and Seward covers almost every color in the gamut of human emotions. (Yes, have your Kleenex handy.)

Here's some scoop on Under the Dome from this week's (Posted on 7/23/13) Ask Ausiello column.

Question: Since Comic-Con ended, that means you’ve gotta have some scoop on the best summer show ever, Under the Dome. Is it coming back for a second season? —Phillip
Ausiello: Yes. Although nothing’s official, rest assured there will be a second season of Under the Dome. The only question is whether CBS will hold it until next summer or bring it back in-season (i.e. next spring). In the meantime, in case you missed it, Rachelle Lefevre lightly spoiled the Season 1 finale, telling me at Con, “The last five minutes will contain a very, very large moment of whether or not [Barbie and Julia] have come far enough in our relationship to help one other out of a very difficult situation.”

Question: I was just wondering how Maggie Lawson’s role in ABC’s new comedy Back in the Game will affect her status on the new season of Psych? —Jackie
Ausiello: As James Roday maintained to me at Comic-Con, there will be a “strong Juliet presence in Season 8, no question,” despite Lawson’s new extracurricular activity. Added exec producer Steve Franks: “We found a fun way to make it work… She’s in a good chunk of the episodes. It certainly creates interesting challenges, but I think we worked our way through it.”

Ausiello: There’s a very good chance the Sept. 23 premiere will feature a Game of Thrones crossover. Of sorts. “We haven’t locked the cut yet, but there is a Game of Thrones reference in the season premiere that I hope stays in,” reveals exec producer Craig Thomas. “We reveal that in the same way that Barney is a big fan of Billy Zabka in The Karate Kid, Barney may or may not be a big fan of King Joffrey.”

Ausiello: Well, I can tell you that he’ll have a major presence in at least two Season 4 episodes, both of which are being unofficially billed as ”standalone Governor” installments. No specific intel on when those episodes will air, but I hear they’ll likely fall in the first chunk of eight (premiering Sunday, Oct. 13).

Chicago Fire: Casts Michelle Forbes in Season 2-TVLine

Chicago Fire Season 2 Cast Michelle Forbes

According to TVLine's Vlada Gelman, Michelle Forbes has been cast in a recurring guest-star role for season 2 of Chicago Fire. Here's an excerpt from the original article, which gives some details on Forbes' role:

The Killing alumna has booked a recurring role on Season 2 of the NBC drama as a high-ranking consultant with the State Fire Marshal’s office, TVLine has learned.

The actress’ character, Gail McLeod, is in charge of monitoring budgets and performance at the city’s fire houses. That may spell trouble for the men and women at 51, which is definitely under her microscope.

My thoughts: I've seen Michelle Forbes on a lot of TV shows over the years, namely Battlestar Galactica, Lost, True Blood and The Killing, and I personally think she's a very talented actress. I'm very confident that she'll do a great job on Chicago Fire. Chicago Fire ended up becoming one of my favorite new TV shows last year, so it's definitely great to finally get some news about what will be happening in season 2. If you aren't already watching Chicago Fire, I strongly recommend that you check the show out immediately.

Falling Skies: Scoop on Moon Bloodgood's future on the show from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Falling Skies from this week's (Posted on 7/18/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Why is Moon Bloodgood no longer billed as a series regular on Falling Skies? Is she leaving the show? –Andy
I am assured that Bloodgood is very much still a series regular, and was only omitted from the credits during her maternity leave. What’s more, I can tease that Anne resurfaces soon, and in an unexpected place (…or two).

Pretty Little Liars: Prom related scoop from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on Pretty Little Liars from this week's (Posted on 7/18/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

I just finished reading the newest Pretty Little Liars book (Crushed), and in it the girls are off to prom. That got me wondering: Will they be heading to prom on the show, since it is after all senior year? –Estee
Don’t buy a corsage just yet. This question “is a difficult one,” says EP Oliver Goldstick, “because proms, we all know, usually happen toward the end of the school year, and we are going very slowly through the senior year for a multitude of reasons. We’ll give you other events, but we won’t necessarily give you a prom right away. You’ll [eventually] get one, but unfortunately that would mean they’d be graduating within weeks [of it], and we’re trying to avoid that story point [for now].”

NCIS: Scoop on the future of the show in season 11 from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich

Here's some scoop on NCIS from this week's (Posted on 7/18/13) Matt's Inside Line column.

Do you think Cote de Pablo’s departure spells the end for NCIS? With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. rivaling for No. 1, I don’t see NCIS staying at the top without her, and I know many Tiva shippers are leaving the show with Cote. –Mary Catherine
OK, for one, it’s not “the end of NCIS.” TV’s most watched program isn’t abruptly going to crater because one member of a good-sized, top-notch ensemble leaves. Will its numbers get dinged? Maybe. A bit. But it’d have to lose 3 million viewers to fall behind Big Bang Theory and cease being TV’s most watched (non-sports) program. The whole debate is: What fraction of that total viewership has been tuning in just for Ziva, and/or just for “Tiva.”  S.H.I.E.L.D.’s more direct competition, I imagine, is The Originals, as those two first duke it out for the genre-TV-loving eyeballs, before either start eating into CBS’ older-skewing audience.
